From August until November 1943 he trained intensively in formation flying, dive bombing, air to ground firing and instrument flying and became a qualified pilot, both day and night on these aircraft.

At the end of January 1944, he went forward with No. 25 Squadron to the Pacific Base Depot at Pallikule airfield at Espiritu Santos. On February 11th, 1944 Flying Officer Moore took off on a training flight in an Avenger aircraft with Flight Sergeant J.K Munro as his Wireless Operator Air Gunner, but they failed to return and in spite of aerial search no trace was found, and they were presumed to have lost their lives on the above date.
