Acel Theodore Walter Moore was born at Te Kuiti on the 31st March 1914. He received his secondary education at Fielding Agriculture High School and Massey Agricultural College. Prior to enlisting in the RNZAF he was employed as a woolclasser by Messr.s Dalgety & Co., Auckland.

He enlisted at Levin on the 25th May, 1941, where he completed his initial training course. In July he was posted to No. 2 Elementary Flying Training School, New Plymouth where he underwent his flying training. His training was terminated for a period and he recommenced training at No. 4 Elementary Flying Training School, Whenuapi, in January 1942. Three months later he embarked for Canada, undergoing his advanced flying training at No. 9 Service Flying Training School, Summerside. He was awarded the Flying Badge and promoted to Sergeant on the 3rd July, 1942.

On the completion of his course, F/Sgt. Moore embarked for the United Kingdom, commencing a further at No. 15 Advanced Flying Unit, Acaster, Malpin, Yorkshire on the 4th September, 1942, flying Oxford aircraft. The following month he was posted to No. 30 Operational Training Unit, Hixon, Staffordshire, where he flew Vickers Wellington aircraft while on operational training. From there he went to No. 1656 Conversion Unit, Lindholme, Yorkshire for a conversion course to Halifax and Lancaster bomber aircraft. On the 15th May, 1943 he became a member of No. 100 (Bomber) Squadron, Waltham, where he was the pilot of a Lancaster Bomber. He was promoted to Flight Sergeant on 15th May 1943.

On the 23rd May, 1943 he carried out operations over Dortmund, Germany and again on the 25th May 1943 he carried out another bombing mission over Dusseldorf. This time, however, the aircraft did not return. Later, information was received from the Dutch Red Cross that the aircraft had crashed and the crew killed. F/Sgt. Moore was buried in grave No. 268 in the Military Cemetery at Venlo, Holland.
