41349 Leading Aircraftman Edwin Chaytor MOORE.
Mother: Mrs. Mary Moore of AUCKLAND.

Edwin Moore was born at Auckland on June 5th, 1917 and received his secondary education at the Auckland Grammar School. He also took a Ticket Writing Course at Druleigh College and the Wakefield Business College, Auckland. At the school he was a member of the Second Cricket Eleven and Captain of the 5th "A" Grade Football Team, and 6th "B" Grade Team. Later he was a member of the Grafton Football Club, playing Senior Grade. At the time of making an application for a short-service commission in the Royal New Zealand Air Force or the Royal Air Force on March 24th 1939 he was employed as a shop assistant by Ralph A. Johnston, Men's Outfitters, Auckland. He was unsuccessful in his application for a short service commission and he made a further application for Aircrew training for War Service on January 13th 1940.

Leading Aircraftman Moore was enlisted at the Initial Training Wing, Levin, as airman-pilot under training on January 19th, 1941 and was posted to Whenupai for his elementary flying training on March 2nd.

Leading Aircraftman Moore lost his life in an aircraft accident at Rewiti, near Helensville, on March 28th 1941. He was buried in the Otahuhu Cemetery, Auckland.
