42303 Sergeant Clement Robert MORGAN.
Parents: Mr. and Mrs. A.S. Morgan of Wellington.

Born in Wellington on the 30th April, 1920, Clement Morgan received his secondary education at Wellington College where he passed the matriculation examination and gained the Higher Leaving Certificate. Later he attended classes at Victoria University College and passed in eight subjects of the B. Com. degree. The games he played were football, cricket, tennis and golf. Joining the Territorial Forces in 1938, he served fr nearly three years in the Wellington Regiment. His civilian occupation was that of a clerk in the Government Life Insurance Department and he was so employed when in March, 1941, he applied for war service in the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

Sergant Morgan was enlisted for aircrew training on the 25th January, 1942, at the Initial Training Wing, Levin, and early in April embarked for Canada for training under the Empire Air Training Scheme.

Shortly after his arrival in Canada, Sergeant Morgan was posted on the 10th May to No. 4 Air Observer's School, London, Ontario. While here on the 11th September he was awarded his air observer's badge and received his promotion to Sergeant following which, on the 22nd September, he proceeded to No. 1 "Y" Depot, Halifax, Nova Scotia, to await embarkation for the United Kingdom.

Morgan was at No. 3 Personnel Reception Centre, Bournemouth, (redacted until) posted on the 27th October, to No. 9 (Observer) Advanced Flying Unit, Penrhos, Caernarvonshire, Wales.

On the 28th November, 1942, Sergeant Morgan was a member of the crew of an Anson trainer aircraft which crashed near Bettwes Garmon, Sergeant Morgan losing his life. He was buried on the 3rd December at Llanberlig Cemetery, Caernarvonshire, Wales.
