F/Sgt. Morgan arrived at No. 12 (RNZAF) Personnel Reception Centre, Brighton, on the 25th February 1944 and was posted on the 21st March to No. 3 (Observer) Advanced Flying Unit, Halfpenny Green, Worcestershire, where he trained on Anson aircraft. On the 18th April he was posted to No. 26 Operational Training Unit, Wing, Bedfordshire, where he crewed up and completed his training on Wellington bomber aircraft. Early in July he proceeded to No. 1653 Conversion Unit, Cheburgh, Suffolk, where he converted to Stirling aircraft. On the 8th September he had a course at No. 3 Lancaster Finishing School, Feltwell, Norfolk, and converted to Lancaster aircraft, before posting later in the same month to No. 75 (NZ) Squadron, Mepal, Cambridgeshire. With this squadron he took part in 22 operational flights, including raids on targets at Saarbrucken, Emmerick, Duisburg, Stuttgart, Koblenz, Heinsburg, Gelsenkirchen, Neuss, in Germany; an oil refinery at Wesseling, and also at Homburg; marshalling yards at Solingen and Cologne, all in Germany; fortifications and the sea wall at Westkapelle and Flushing, in Holland, and targets at Calais and Cape Gris Nez, in France. In addition he took part in a sea mining operation to Oslo Fiord, in Norway.

On the 30th November, 1944, F/Sgt. Morgan was the navigator of a Lancaster aircraft which took off for the target of Osterfeld, in Germany, and failed to return to its base. All the members of the crew, including F/Sgt. Morgan, were reported missing. Information was received through the International Red Cross Committee, from a German source that F/Sgt. Morgan had lost his life. In consequence he was reclassified missing, believed killed, in action. In due course his death was officially presumed to have occurred on the 30th November 1944. Later information was recevied through the I.R.C.C. that he was buried in the New Cemetery, Duisburg, Germany.
