Finally off the alert - have fallen
behind other Squadron during the last
of slow day - I flew once & [?] [?] there
[?] [?] -

Yesterday lead two hops - the first
a DAS just south of Ben Hoi river -
with Major Graham & bombing Mortar positions
lucky to get a target - orbited for a while - then
went out Khe San but couldn't contact
anybody. - back to Dang Ha and one target -
Major Graham had 3 [?] on the left mer and
all efforts to drop where unsuccessful -= hated to
jettison mers so he landed on the best runway
and arrested - Feeder taxway was torn up
so he had to be towed back. I ended up
landing on west also as Rick & Herson had
brake failure coming out of the gear &
dribbled of the side of the rwy - no damage
I topped off with 200# & took off
for west & [?] east. Was going to make
a high perfomance take off but just as I
was about to rotate some guy came [?]
down the rway the opposite way at about
200 ft rocking his wings - I kept it on the
rwy - lucky not to blow a tire and got by
him -

Next hop with Mike Pool - week 8 - napalm
took my camera ([?]) along & got some
shots of take off -- bombing run & [?]
landing - we got 8 structures destroyed --
2 Damaged 4 [?] fires but Duke dropped
his fuel tank on the last pass - [?] & heavy
napalm & chained it off without checking
Sobet switch - another incident for 125

Got some sun & fell asleep early -
