Santa Domingo, all within two miles of the
sea-shore:Turkey Buzzard (nearly always in
sight, 17 checked); Black Phoebe ( 1, among composite
weeds in San Telmo bottom); Marsh Hawk ( 2, both
blue males, one skimming zigzag over agave
plain!); Willet (at least 8 scattered along Colnett
Beach); Farallon Cormorant (12 or more
outside of surf); Western Gull (6 adults on Colnett
Beach, and others along the low cliffs);
Long-billed Curlew ( one seen plainly on the Colnett
Beach, then in flight close by); Royal Tern
(one , over ocean); Sanderling ( one close by on
sandy beach);Snowy Plover ( a pair in sand-
dunes and a flock of 16 in flight at Colnett
Beach); Barn Swallow (fully 12 over both
bottoms); Large-billed Sparrow ( one shot at
Colnett "Village" from bush at edge of salicornia);
Pigeon Hawk ( a very dark one flying over the
beach); Horned Lark ( one heard); Shrike ( one
on mesa flew from perch on agave stalk);
Forster Tern (two along beach at mouth of San
Telmo Valley); Spotted Sandpiper (one at edge
of slough in San Telmo Valley); Killdeer (one flying
in San Telmo bottom); Say Phoebe ( 4+, singly
over agave mesas); Sparrow Hawk (1, flying
along bluff); Great Blue Heron (one along bluff);
Brown Pelican ( singly and in files flying along
surf about at level of top of sea bluff);
