H/10/1909-1-
Knollton
October 5th 1909
This, our last meeting for this year,
was a large and pleasant assembly. Our
President, in a few well chosen words, expressed
his thankfulness, in which we joined
for our good meetings this summer, for
fine weather, fine exhibits and good attendance.
We were gratified by the presedence
of Dr. Kirk, he having been absent
from most of our meetings this Summer
owing to ill-health.
1st Reader, Ellen Farquhar read. Whether
one had a right to put poison on his
own plants on his own place?
2nd reader John Bentley, proposed that instead
of his reading Alvin G. Thomas
should tell of some of the incidents of his
travels in the far West. This was welcomed
by the members and Alvin Thomas.
Emily Massey and Anna Nesbit, entertained
us with delightful descriptions of
places and things seen in their trip
to Sealle, Yellowstone Park, etc. The
mountains climbed the beautiful lakes,
the bears, the trees, fish, fruits, beautiful
flowers, snow 200 feet deep. It was
very interesting. John Bentley's reading
is only postponed to a future meeting
