{106 }H/6/1911-4.

There have been few enemies to watermelons
and canteleupes. Robert Miller has been
troubled with striped bugs and cut worm
have been very destructive at some places.

There were many complaints that garden
seeds were very slow in germinating.
Alvin Thomas planted his peas and beans
with water. They come up promptly.
Lima beans are easily transplanted
an anecdote was told of a lady who
had two D.W.s which the recommended
"drink water" and "dont worry." And she said
I always had great patience with fools.

We visited the garden which was in
prime order and the truck-patch is just as
flourishing. The best bloom of roses was over
tho there were still some fine ones and
punks, snap dragons and other flowers
blooming.

There was no report of the numbers
of chickens etc. because several of the largest
raisers were absent.

The next meeting to be at
Highland.
