John Bentley proposed that the Secretary
have new labels printed; this was
approved by the members. If there is not
enough money to pay for them, in the
treasury the Secretary is to call on
the next meeting for more.

Questions

{1}What plant in a shady corner
North exposure? Hydrangea and ferns
suggested. Something woody that
does not grow tall preferred.
{2}Plant asparagus in the Spring or Fall?
Spring preferred by most persons. John
Bentley will try Fall planting.
{3}What does it cost to raist a chicken?
Catherine Janney asked to find the answer
and report at next meeting,
{4}Is "Globe" tomato as early as "Earliana"?
Not quite so early but the best all season
tomato. The "Stone" tomato is also
a great favorite.

Ellen Farquhar has trouble with her cantelupes.
Supposed to be caused by a worm.
She was advised to write to the Dep. of Ag.
Some chestnuts trees are failing, supposed
San Jose seal has attacked them. Try
Bordeaux mixture.

A recipe for keeping snap beans
to use in winter was given. Put a
layer of salt in a stone jar then a
layer of beans till the jar is full, cover
and put a weight on. Soak over night
when wanted for dinner.
