This is a gain of 2645 over last month. There
is no record of poultry for May 1913.

Exhibits

From ten places, asparagus, spinach, kale,
chard, rhubard, lettuce, radishes and various
winter vegetables; Young plants of peas, corn,
potatoes, and flowers; beautiful apples from
The Highlands. Mrs. Davis in her collection
showed a cucumber which had been grown
in New Orleans and brought from there
three weeks ago and was still crisp and
fresh.

We were told of two Judas trees growing
near together; one had had an application
of fertilizer and out-grew the other
remarkably.

Questions
1. Is this the proper time to bud or graft?
It is a very good time.
2. Is it too late to set out asparagus roots for
a new bed? It is not too late.
3. Is it necessary to spray currant bushes
when they are in good condition? No.
4. How plant Dahlia roots? Divide the clusters
and plant those which have a sprout
at the neck.
5. How use wood ashes in the most profitable
way? It is excellent on grass and a
light application on asparagus.
6. When plant flower seeds in the garden?
The last of April.
7. How many cow peas plant to an acre? 1 Bushel.
8. How much sorgham? 1/2 a peck.

We visited the garden and found
much to admire. All so clean and flourish
