The trees at the Highlands are covered
with flies: a twig was brought, to show the
variety. A guest from Wilmington Del. said
their Japenese cherry was covered with them
so the flies are not confined to any one
tree, though were probably more on the Elms.

Margaret Magruder said the Philadelphia
rambler or Baby rambler were such great bloomers
they always had roses, so were very satisfactory
She also told of a well-kept strawberry bed
which has been in use for 15 years.

She also says she has three little kittens
to give away! Another person has 21 to dispose of
In our walk in the garden we found
both the flower and vegetable gardens in
excellent condition. As the evening shadows
gathered we felt it was in truth the close
of of "A Perfect Day."
