flower garden well kept, and with the
back ground of the ever beautiful hills in the
distance, gave pleasure to all of us. and perhaps
the flourishing plants made some of us a little
jealous. The vegetable gardens looked as if the
table was well supplied, and a goodly variety
of winter vegetables gave promise of a plentiful provision
for the winter which will soon be upon us.

Questions--How to keep Maderia vine roots in Winter?
Put away in the potato cellar.

Will adding strong Lye to poor soap make it good?
It will make it good enough for rough scouring
or cleaning.

Are rose cuttings planted three weeks ago rooted?
Very likely but leave them for a while longer and
plant in four or five inch pots.

Is it too late to plant strawberries?
Not too late, but it is better to plant in Spring.

Has any one a plan for a good hen house?
Several ideas were offered, but none very perfectly
