To the Chairman of the Light House Board. Washington, D.C.

Sir: I have the honor to submit the following annual report, to June 30th, 1887, of engineer operations in the 13th L.-H. Dist.:------ This District extends from the southern boundary of Oregon to the boundary between the United States and British Columbia and embraces all aids to navigation on the Pacific Coast of Oregon and Washington Territory and in the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, Straits of Fuca and Puget Sound. In the district there are Light-Houses and lighted beacons 46 Fog-signals operated by steam or hot air 6 “ “ clockwork 2.

To the Chairman of the Light House Board Washington, D.C. Sir: I have the honor to submit the following annual report to June 30, 1885 of engineer operations in the 13th L. H. District. This district extends form the southern boundary of Oregon to the boundary between the United States and British Columbia, and embraces all aids to navigation on the Pacific coast of Oregon and Washington Territory and in the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, Straits of Fuca and Puget Sound. In the district there are: Light-Houses 16

and located positions of the buildings. Plans, estimate &c have been forwarded to the Board. Stakes Lights on Columbia & Willamette Rivers A requisition for lens lanterns for three lights, has been forwarded to the Board. A supply of paints, oils, point brushes &c, for one year, has been sent to the Buoy Depot, for the Light Stations of this district. A supply of stationary for use in this office, has been received. At stations not mentioned above, no changes are reported to have occurred during the month. This report has been delayed, by my absence from stations on duty. 1872 may be stated as "on or about". The form in regard to Cape Flattery will be forwarded at once giving the characteristic times of sound and interval.

July 23 From Engineer Secretary Major G.H. Elliot To Major H. M. Robert Corps Engineers Sir: Your letter of the 8th instant transmitting estimates for July 1872 is received. With a view of saving the General Appropriation for Repairs which always runs short at the end of the fiscal year, you will habitually (unless otherwise directed or unless there is some especial reason to the contrary, of which you will inform the Board) pay your office and other incidental expenses, from your Special Appropriations.

1873 Mch. 5 Foulweather Lantern vault covers - sent. From Engineer Secretary Major G. H. Elliot. To Major H. M. Roberts Corps Engineers. Sir: I have to inform you that the following articles were shipped you at Portland, Oregon, per ateamer "Rising Star" on the 26th February , 1873, by Colonel J. C. Woodruff Light House Engineer 3rd District, viz: Fourteen (14) prismatic vault covers for the Cape Foulweather Lantern ________________________________ Mch. 6. From Engineer Secretary Major G. H. Elliot. To Major H. M. Roberts Corps Engineers. Sir: General Woodruff Engineer 3rd and 4th Light House District requests funds to the amount of $ 105: to pay for 14 prismatic vault covers for the Cape Foulweather lantern. As there are no funds in the Treasury available for this purpose, you are requested to deposit that amount to the credit of the Treasure of the United Sates from the amount in your hands belonging to the appropriation for Cape Foulweather lightstation. Oregon 1871-72 and to forward the original certificate of deposit to this office. ________________________________
