A cloudy day. Ben worked on Owens house. It has bin a busy day with Josie and I. Josie ironed most all day.
I went down to the cook room 15 to four oclock made a fire washed the supper dishes then got breakfast. Called the rest of them then we eat. After breakfast I cut up two pumpkins and put them on to cook then put on some meat to cook fed two calves and brought a bucket of water then milked two cows and sloped the pigs put on a liver and face to make scrappel then churned. Josie made bread and coffee for dinner. I washed up a lot of things and took up the meat for dinner then eat dinner. Took up the pumpkins and meat for scrapple and made the scrappel. Janie Gravley and Lucius Muriel Gravley and Effie Brumfield stopped here a few minutes on their way home from Danville. Well I have not room for any more.

Saturday, March 15, 1919
Cloudy all day & rain tonight. The men folks shucked some corn this morning & hauled up the stalks this evening.
Ben & Jim went to the Island. Jim went on to Chatham. Ben went to meet Josie. He phoned home that she had not come to Cedar Forest. He is down there somewhere now. Henry went to Marvins this evening. He come home & got in the wood for to night.
We fed the horses & cows & pigs and calves & chickens & dogs. Edna & Franklin has bad colds tonight and I am very sorry a bout it. Denia come to see me this evening. I was glad that she come but was sorry to see [her]go home in the rain.
I am so afraid that something bad has happened to Mrs Car or Josie or both.

Friday, May 9, 1919
A cloudy day and some rain. The men folks planted a little tobacco. Henry worked all day. Josie got dinner.
I planted some onions. The latest that we planted any. I planted them in the olde ice house hole. This evening I mended Bens overalls then went to Marvins and staid a few minutes. Come home and fed the chickens and milked the cow and fed the calf. Josie went to the plant bed and got some salit. She liked to got wet comeing home.

Saturday, May 17, 1919
Cloudy most of the day & a little rain. I woke up at three oclock this morning. Got up at half passed four. Made a fire and went to the spring and then got breakfast fried fish and ham. After breakfast I milked two cows and fed the calf then put on another dress. Ben carried me to Mr Dews. They carried me with them to Long Island fishing. We did not catch any thing worth haveing.
Mrs Dews had a nice dinner. They were all as nice & good to me as any one could ask. Brought me as far as Mr Owens on my way home. I certainly do thank them for their kindness.
Josie & Nellie was here to get dinner and attend to things. Ben went to the mill this evening.

[Ink smear] I went to sleep.
Monday, December 1, 1919
A bright day. Jim & Ben loaded Mr Mayhews truck with their tobacco and they started to Boston this evening. I do hope that they will get on OK.
Josie & I fed the hogs tonight. Josie got supper.
Bessie (col) did not come in until a bout night.
I was at Carries a few minutes this morning.
