297 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE July 6/83 of said rolls is laid over until Monday July 16, 1883 at 8 o'clock p.m. And now the Surveyor submits the Plans and Specifications for the Improvement of Cherry Street under Ordinance No. 395; thereupon after due examination the same are approved. And now the Surveyor submits the Plans and Specifications for the Improvement of Fourth Street from the south side of Seneca Street to the north side of Mill Street under Ordinance No. 395 as amended by Ordinance No. 408; thereupon after due examination the sae are approved. And now the Surveyer submits the Plans and Specfication for the Improvment of 9th Street under Ordinance No. 395 as amended by Ordinance No. 408; thereupon after due examinaion the same are approved. Miscellaneous Orderd that the contract for the construction of the Engine House on Columbia Street be and the same is awarded to Carkeek Nicholas on their bid therefor. 402 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Nov 22/83 Ordered that the Special Comtee on Columbia Street Engine House be & they are hereby authorized to construct an Incline from said Engine House to the Street. Ordered that the opinion of the Attorney as to the power of Treasurer to borrow money from City Fund to redeem Warrants on Special Funds be & the same is referred to Finance Comtee. A report is received from the Attorney showing assessment collected case of City-v-Ford. Adopted Ordered that the Special Committee on Columbia Street Engine House be & they are hereby authorized to furnish the meeting room of said Engine House. Ordered that the Attorney be & is hereby instructed to submit an Ordinance regulating the speed of teams on the Jackson Street Bridge. Ordered that the Surveyor be & he is hereby instructed to revise the grade elevations on Commercial, Front and Mill Streets so as to conform to the elevation of the Yesler-Leary Sidewalk. And no the Mayor announces that he will be absent from the City for a few days. Ordered that Councilman Charles McDonald be & he is hereby appointed to the position of Acting Mayor to serve during such absence. Ordered that the Council stand now adjoured. M. Rasin and Councilmen Thomas Clancy, B. F. Day, Geo. W. Harris, John Keenen, B. L. Northrup & F. W. Wusthoff Thereupon the following proceedings are had And now the Council proceeds to the examination of the assessment for Jackson Improvement under ordinance No. 442; thereupon after due examination the same is approved. A petition is received from James M. Colman for opening the Mill Street sewer.
