123 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sept 4/82 assessment roll for Union Street grade made in pursuance to Ordinance No 289 & to hear all complaints touching said roll, pending which the matter of said consideration is laid over until Tuesday evening September 5th 1882 at 7 1/2 o'clock p.m. The Judiciary and Legislative Committee submit an ordinance to provide for the grading of Washington Street. Same is recommitted with instruction to complete the ordinance. And now the Council proceed to consider an ordinance entitled "To provide for the purchase of certain real estate." After due consideration said ordinance is rejected upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption of said ordinance Collins, Gasch and McDonald. Against adoption Clancy, Manning and Rasin. And now the Council proceed to consider Ordinance No 296 entitled "In relation to Auctioneers, Hawkers and Peddlers" thereupon after due consideration said ordinance is adopted upon the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning and Rasin. Against adoption none. And now the Council proceed to consider an ordinance entitled "A special ordinance to provide for the construction of a sidewalk on King Street from 7th to 10th Streets." Pending which the same is re-committed to the Judiciary and Legislative Committee with instruction to report on blanks. And now the Council proceeds to consider an ordinance entitled "A special ordinance to provide for a sidewalk on 7th Street from north side of Cherry to south side of Madison Street." Pending which the said is recommitted to the Judiciary and Legislative Committee with instruction to report on blanks. And now the Judiciary and Legislative Committee submit an ordinance entitled "To provide for a partial grade of Washington Street." Thereupon the same is recommitted to the Judiciary and Legislative Committee with instuctions to report on blanks. And now the Judiciary and Legislative Committee submit an ordinace entitled "A special ordinance to provide for the construction of a sidewalk on Front Street from Pike Street to Lake Avenue" thereupon the same is recommitted with instructions to report on blanks.

And now the Judiciary and Legislative Committee submit Ordinance No 304 teh same being entitled "A Special Ordinance to provide for the construction of a side walk on Front Street from Pike Street to Lake Avenue" ; Thereupon after due consideration said Ordinance is adopted upon the following vote to wit: In Favor of adoption collins, Clancy, Gasch, Mcdonald, Manning and Rasin; against adoption, none. And now the Judiciary and Legislative Comittee submit Ordinance No 305, the same being entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills"; thereupon after due consideration said ordinance is adopted upon the folowing vote to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, manning and Rasin; against adoption none. 128 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Sept 8/82 On this the 8th day of September 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following Officers are present, towit: His Honor the Mayor H.G. Struve and Councilmen John Collins, Fred Gasch and V.M. Rasin. No quorum being present, Council adjourned until Monday September 11 1882 at 7.30 o'clock p.m. Attest: E S Osborne Clerk Approved H G Struve Mayor Sept 11/82 Be it remembered that on this the 11th day of September 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following Officers are present, towit: His Honor the Mayor H. G. Struve and Councilmen John Collins, O. F. Cosper, Chas F. Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald and V.M. Rasin. Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions received From W.A. Scott et al for the opening of Mill Street from 8th to Williamson Street, thence north to intersect Lake Street. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. Communications received From His Honor the Mayor recommending that the members of the Police force be uniformed. Referred to the Committee on Health and Police. Reports received From the Surveyor restructing plans for Washington Street grade under Ordinance No. 301. Reports of Committees received From Public Buildings, Property and Grounds recommending that the rent of a certain Tenement House belonging to the City be reduced to $10.00 per month. Adopted.

From Streets and Street Improvements recommendings that the contract for sidewalk on Front Street Under Ordinance No 304 be awarded to Hoole and Simpson on their bid of $17.75 per M feet BM [thousand board feet] Adopted and City attorney instructed to prepare proper contract and bond. 151 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE. Oct 13/82 to order the same erected From Gas Lights recommending the placing of a gas light corner 4th & Washington Streets. Adopted & Committee instructed to order the same erected From Licenses and Revenue recommending a Grocery license be issued to Fuhrman & Christ. Adopted & license ordered issued. From Licenses and Revenue reccommending a Retail Liquor license be issued to Otto Pasqua. Adopted & license ordered issued. From Special Committee on Uniforms for Police Force submitting the following Resolutions Resolved by the Council that the regular Police Force of the City of Seattle when on duty shall wear a uniform in the style and manner following namely: Uniform for Police men Coat: The same shall be a blue Lock coat of beaver or kersey or similar material, single breasted with turned down collar, the waist to extend to the top of the hip and the skirt to within one inch of the bend of the Knee. The collar to be of the same material as the coat. There are to be eight buttons on the breast placed at equal distances; four buttons of same size behind two upper merging with lower breast buttons, the other two at the bottom of each fly and two smaller buttons at the seams of each cuff. The buttons to be yellow metal of the same pattern as sample now in the possession of Chief of Police. The body of the Coat to be well wadded and body and skirts to be lined with Italian cloth. Vest: The same is to be of the same material, single breasted, high in the neck, turned down collar and eight small police buttons placed at equal distances. Pantaloons. To be made of blue Cassmere or kersey and plain with one hip pocket in addition to the ordinary side pockets Hat: To be of the same pattern as now in charge of the Chief of Police as a sample. The hat to be corded with black and gilt cord.
