The undersigned, citizens and taxpayers of the City of Seattle respectfully petition your honorable body to erect and maintain electric arc lights at the following places on the streets of this city, to wit

Corner of South Fifth (5) Street and Jackson Street Corner of South Sixth (6) Street and Jackson Street Corner of South Fifth (5) Street and Main Street Corner of South Fourth (4) Street and Washington Street Corner of South Second (2) Street and Washington Street Corner of South Third (3) Street and Washington Street Corner of South Third (3) Street and Main Street Corner of South Third (3) Street and Jackson Street Corner of South Fourth (4) Street and Jackson Street

Your petitioners deeming said lights necessary to the comfort and convenience of the citizens of this city. And your petitioners will ever pray etc.

Struve and Councilmen John Collins, Chas F. Clancey, O.F. Cosper, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald, G.L. Manning and U.M. Rasin Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions received From Walter France to correct Certificate of Purchase and to refund certain taxes paid. referred to the Judiciary and Legislative Committee From A. H. Manning et al for the opening of Third Street from Battery Street to Blanchard Street. Referred to the committee on Streets and Street Improvements From the Heirs at Law of Fred Slother Dec'd for the adjustment of sidewalk tax for Jackson Street sidewalk tax levy under Ordinance No. 283, Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From Roswell Scott et al for an Ordinance prohibiting the wearing of bells on animals. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements From M Densmore et al for an Ordinance changing the Grade on Union Street from Front Street to8th Street and to have Union Street u-graded. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Impr -ovements. From Robert Kaupe et al for an Ordinance to construct side walks on both sides of Union Street from Front Street to the East side of Eighth Street. Referred to the Committee on Street and Street Improvement. From Geo Harlip for the right to erect a fish stand. Referred to the Committee on Streets And Street Imrpovements From W.R. Brawley et al for the opening of Washington Street from 10th to 11th Street, and for the opening of 11th Street from Washington Street to Main Street. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements.

Seattle, W T , Oct 2nd 1885 To the Hon Mayor and Common Council Gentlemen Your Committee to whom was referred street Planking of Cherry, James, Jackson, Washington and Main Streets beg leave to Report as Follows, that you Plank Cherry Street from the East side of Front Street to the West side of Third Street and same Street from the East side of Front St to the West side of Second Street and Jackson St from the End of Bridge to East side of Sixth St all to be planked Twenty Four feet wide. Washington and Main St to be planked as follows the South side of Washington from the west side of Commercial St the planking east of the alley Sixteen feet in width the north side of Main From the west side of Commercial St the planking east of alley sixteen feet wide and that the work be done immediatly before the winter rains set in.
