1859 May 3rd Henry & Mr Shields gone to Lynchg paid Mr Shields for toll We are Hilling in fresh ground Jacob making martin Box - Mr Robey came here to work in Shop@ 6/–

4.5.6 Bushing Oats Cutting off Tobacco Hills etc etc got back from Lynchg this night etc

May 7th Tobacco Sold by Toot & alexander 22nd april 1859

Planting Cotton this day put Guano en fresh ground hills cut off Harrowing Corn got Hogs Home Cutting & malling wood, etc etc

May 9th Plowing & replanting Corn - 10 Same work Henry complaining put up Martin Box Glued Table etc etc

1959 June 10th Plowing & working in corn, done Peas Greens etc weeding down some Tobacco Plowing or Harrowing Tobacco --

11 Finished Harrowing Tobacco in Lot weeding it down - Kate Came down & 12th married in morning Sunday & went on to meeting at Strait Stone, to Mr Jos M Moses - married by Mr Witherington

13th Fannie Kate & Mr Moses left this morning Mr Witherington stayed all night last night. clouday & like for Rain — Sent down to aspen Grove & got some cherries &Rasb etc —

14th weeding Down Tobacco in Lot. Plowing corn next to CaptWhiteheads- 15th Raining a little Halling stacks to worsham mill went to aspen Grove for wool Paid CaptL W Clement $2558 & some cents for his Land & we had a fair settlement & he is to make a Deed next Monday for the Land & give me a Plot —

16th Halling Logs again Sent 1 Turn corn for Chumbley this morning bot from Jas Shields & give him $12½ to be delrd here in my pasture as pr Rect - in a day or Two choping in our Corn etc etc I am going to aspen Grove & Republican to day Halled 6 Logs to day Card standing Turn to Mill & brot home 2 Turns meal for ourselves & 1 for Chumbly - etc etc

17 Fine Rain last night replanting Tobacco this morning - still cloudy I went to Aspen Grove & Republican etc etc

18 Halling Logs thinning corn etc Jas Shields Brot 5 Hogs home this morning bot of him clear pretty morning

1859 June 20th Jack & Jinny Halling Logs & Rocks to day & 18 June My Jenny & Mr Faris Jack Replanting Tobacco etc etc — — I went to Court Sallie Came from Fannies

21st working in Tobacco & Corn to day

22nd began to Cut wheat Raining allmost every day Nanny & me went to Aspen Grove etc etc Colo Parker Came to Survey Jno D Hunts Land sold Kelley & worsham

23rd Cutting wheat & finished Lot this evening & fresh ps lower end of field Finished Surveying Land about 10 Oclock, Barksdale Came here, my Hog Came Home thats been missing so Long, lame in one Leg -

24th Settled with worhsam & Bybee Mr Wm L Pannill helped Settle Bybee Halling up Post for yard Mrs Hunts Bob Worked here yesterday plowing Halling Logs to Mill Halling home timber, Hewing Logs for stable I am going to Mrs Colemans to day - I shall Give Mr Shields $1 more for his 5 Hogs as I think they are worth it making $15 for the 5 $3 a ps Rained Tremendous hard nearly all night, very wet time now,.

25 Halling Logs to mill & Halling home Timbers from worsham, Clem spining Balance Cutting & Hewing Logs for Stable done Long Ones, 12 Oclock went to Plowing & Halling up Second yrs Land Tobacco Bob has only worked here one day to day I went to worshams mill Jas Harris Sarah McCullocks & aspen Grove etc, = yesterday we all went to Mrs Colemans

26th Stayed at home & rested this day being Sunday

9th I went to Sarah McCullocks & meeting Finished Halling up wheat before night

10 went to meeting Bob has Plowed 1 day 10th & 1 or 2 ps & worked here 4½ or 5 days

11. I went to Sarah McCullocks again Mrs Hunt went down to her place Mrs Clements to Marys we are plowing & Laying by Our Corn & choping nearly done lower field choping, stacked one stack Oats last Saturday —

12th Bob came to work this work this morning Laying by Corn & choping in Corn - chumbly Toping Tobacco in fresh ground this morning - -

13 Finishing stacking Oats put up 10 stacks in big field & 1 on road making 11 in all, Turned Hogs in fresh field 14th this morning then finished Laying by Corn cleaning out stables halled Lathes from Mr Hunts = & 1 Barrel full of Slack Lime Raked up Sand to Plaster House, Nannie & myself went down to aspen Grove & Sallie, stacking Oats there very warm Dry weather yesterday & to day we have sold nearly 7000 lbs Toba[cco] up to this time. have our good & fine to sell yet. cloudy & like for Rain but don't rain

15th Halling rails for cow pen halled wood etc in evening. Fasted till Evening - cleaned Out stables Hewing stable logs I went to Shields & Mr worsham paid Mrs Clements $23.73 I owed her but she could find my Due Bill due Bill taken & destroyedas Exer of JD Hunt.

16th Halling Logs to whiteheads Mill, & Plant ho[?] sawed by worsham, this is the first Log since worsham sold to whitehead

1859 July 23rd. working on negro House Barn & made door & fixed cellar Hut etc took John 1 day to Plaster over big room first time Bob left this morning with Mrs Hunt for the Court House, looks like for rain

24th went to prayer meeting at Strait Stone like for rain this evening,-

25. cloudy & like for Rain this morning Sent Kate another bottle of Brandy Toping fresh ground Tobacco working framing Top of Barn Cutting down Pines beyound Susan Roarks,- putting up Bed stead John Plastering big Room over we expect to Load our waggon for Lynchg & Jas Shields to day — We have 15 Hogs in pasture 2 in pen we have 33 or 34 at aspen Grove & 6 or 8 pigs, James shields Loaded & carried 1 Hhd & little Bbl fine Tobacco, - Cash paid him for Toll $1.00

28th memorandum of trip to Lynchg last made 1859Tobacco Tobacco sold at Frds 1 Hhd 1040. 120 920 sold W.a. Recd @$12. $110.40 “ “ - - 1 Do 56 94 lbs Claytor @ - 17 15.98 “ “ - - 1 Do 117. 855 T C Ferguson @ 14.24 121.83 “ “ - - 1 Do 1140. 118.1022 Dr Sanders @ 8.50 86.07 2891 $335.08 weighing 2.00 Auction fee 40[symbol] 2.40 Commission 4.00 6.40 Recd for $328.68

Expence toll of waggon $1.25 My Buggy — 75 cakes oranges etc. 50 1 mohair cap 1.50 2 pr shoes for Sandy & Lowry 2.50 cash paid AB Ruckers pr Bill 48.06 Washington Tavern Bill 1.50 Livery Stable for my Horse 75 Card ford $56.81
