22nd clear & cool dry weather

23 Halling out manure on Turnip Patch Finished Hilling new ground & second yrs Land & Hilling up Lots = Planted snaps on Hill last Saturday - Weather clear & dry My wife & children gone to Mrs Hunts to see the Charlotte Poeple etc.

24 Hilling up Branch Tobacco & also newlot Stacking Oats this morning - clear & fair Catharine S. starts to Mrs Walkups school at $1½ pr month say for every 20th days goesshe

25. Raining this morning began Just before day then Rfull for it. very much needed. Spining & shelling Corn Mr Myers here nearly finished working with hay yesterday both lots Stacked Our Oats yesterday light Crop

21 Rained another shower last evening Toped over our Tobacco yesterday & wormed it over Thinning corn last evening & this morning, sent for waggon at shop Plowing Turnip Patch & Part of Pea Patch on Branch - cloudy likeRain for

27 Halling Logs for Barn & shrubing for corn began to clean up on Johns branch This morning alse ann, Lila cutting down beans, yesterday we Harrowed our cotton & finished putting little dirt to our Lot Tobacco Halling Logs & shrubing in fresh ground Fed & Jane cloudy & like for rain

28. Raining a little this morning, worming Lots this morning - Raining finely to day — cleaning up on Johns branch. Lila alse & ann - Jordan & Lowry choping in corn

29th went to Mr McCullocks funeral to day pd Lewis $5 Recd Robl for 1 pr old [?eg] wheels

30. Cutting Logs & Halling for Barn, & cleaning up on Johns Branch, - fine weather,

19th Still raining, shoemaking for Cate making brooms & spining ———

20. Rained all day long till about night

21 Rained all day long

22nd cleared off & I went to Court Spining shoemaking & firing tobacco

23rd clear & fair shoemaking spining ground too wet to plow yet firing 2 BarnsTobacco put up our Fattening Hogs or Pigs as they are small. 19 or 21 in number — Went to Mr Hunts [unclear] & Mrs Hunts etc

24 clear & fair, Plowing for wheat cutting down corn Fed Halling wood firing Tobacco Killed mutton.

25. Sewing wheat etc etc On Hill Side by middle barn in big field -

26 Halling up corn & seeding wheat wrote to Mr E. D Johns and Robt Harris about money Due Estate of Jer. McCullock Decsd this day sent Letters to both of them also to Mrs Mary P McCullock widow of Jas McCullock Hawk Point P.O. Lincoln cty MO & to Mr Francis McCullock on same subject

27 Digging Potatoes till 12 oclock the 2 Plows went to Plowing for wheat & got up 3 Loads corn & put stack fodder in House —

28 prayer meeting warm weather

29 Rained all night spining Mr Lewis spayed 7 hogs for me - Shoemaking & firing Tobacco -

30. Fair & windy shoemaking senting Henry alse & ann to shop after Plows & wheel Expect to Hall up leaves to day spining.

31 Turned out 19th 3 sows 16 shoats etc shoemaking spining Raking & Halling leaves, -clear & fair, - - -

Novr 1st Dined at Mr Lewis Sewing wheat left side Path at middle Barn

1857 April 9th Mr Wyatt at work on upper floor. I helped him yesterday finished lattice & to day finished upper floor all he can do now & about 5 oclock he left. Mr Tucker has altered our shoats & cut 1 Calf to day —

10th Raining this morning Shelling corn mending Shoes Burning Log Heaps & will Plow at 12 Oclock. Halling Logs My wife & Jerry gone to Fannies yesterday morning - cool rain, etc

11th Plowing with 3 Horses this morning Sent Sandy to Millers Mill 8 Bus. Corn 4 Bushels wheat for flour & let Henry have ½ Bushel,= Balance our hands fencing where fence was burnt at mountain field & shrubing there Jordan & Buck Halled up stack Oats & for Coltering at new ground, cool weather & every thing backward nearly all fruit Dead Went to Capt Clement Funeral Masonic Parade

12th Went to Sunday School Just commenced this day Jerry Sick, cloudy Cool day

13th Snowing this morning Easter Monday Sallie at home, Lila complaining Commenced snowing between light & sun rise. 1 Oclock in Evening it has been snowing all day and at it yet snow in places where it did not melt as fast as it falls is 3 or 4 Inches Deep.

14th Plowing in Evening, coltering in second years ground & finished shrubing corn Land & commenced Hilling in second years ground

15th Plowing for corn Hilling. tremendous windy to day & cold - Turned out Hhd Tobacco

16 Coltering in new ground this week carried Hhd Tobacco to Riceville 1058 lbs @ $12 malling till 12 Oclock [water stain]
