Julia Brumfield Diaries

A colde day. Ben & Jim helped Marvin Smith kill hogs. They killed two for Kate Harvey. Kate & Charles was at Marvins. I was there all day. Bettie Haley (col) was there. She washed for Carrie. Nellie and Josie nursed & got dinner.

Henry & Edna went to school.

8 oclock

A cloudy day and some rain and sleet this morning.

I went to Marvins and helped Carrie a bout her hog killing. I dried up the lard. We got through by night. Nellie & Josie stayed at home and kept house.

Josie made some mince meat.

Ben & Jim could not do much any way.

Jim is very much complaining to night. Jany Graveley gave a dance tonight. None of our folks went.

8 oclock

A cloudy bad day. Jim and Ben has done nothing much all day.

Josie & I got dinner.

Henry went to the store for some window glass.

Edna went to school. Miss Wooding carried her and brought her back.

Nellie finished a dress for Edna to day. I worked some button holes for Carrie Smith. The most of them was in Roys clothes.

8 oclock

A rainy morning. Clear this evening.

Jim carried Nellie to the Island this evening on her way home. I hope she may get there ok. Jim had a colde drive home.

Ben & Josie went to Marvins a few minutes this evening.

7:30 oclock

A very windy morning but a good evening. Jim & Nellie and Evylin Brumfield came last night a bout nine oclock. Ben & the girls come home this morning at half passed four We were all at home at dinner Today we had a nice turkey for dinner it was Josies turkey. And mince pie & cakes and custard

This evening Jim hunted with Marvin a while then they set a plant bed on fire.

Ben & Evylin & Thelma & Mary and Charley & Virginia Harvey went to Jim Powers to a dance. Josie did not go on account of the little baby The baby has bin better today than she was yesterday Jim has gone to the store tonight.
