Be it remembered that on this the 30th day of June A.D. 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber, to receive the report of the Special Committee on grades, pursuant to the call of the Mayor.

Present, His Honor, the Mayor L. P. Smith and councilmen Thos Clancy, John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, Chas McDonald and G. L. Manning.

Thereupon the following proceedings are had: A report is received from the Special Committee on grades recommending that certain changes be made in the sheet grades as now established; said report is adopted.

And now the Ordinances Committee submit Ordinance No 286, the same being entitled, "An Ordinance establishing certain grades, in the City of Seattle, in King County, Washington Territory." After due consideration said ordinance is adopted by the following vote, towit; In favor of adoption Thomas Clancy, John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, Chas McDonald and G. L. Manning. Against adoption none.

And now the Ordinance Committee submit Ordinance No 287, the same being entitled, "Ordinance No 287, a special ordinance to provide for the grading and improvement of Front Street from the center line of Pike Street to the center line of Lake Avenue Street, in the City of Seattle, County of King and Territory of Washington."

After due consideration said ordinance is adopted by the following vote towit; In favor of adoption Thos Clancy, John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, Chas McDonald and G. L. Manning. Against adoption none.

And now the Ordinance Committee submit Ordinance No 288, the same being entitled, "A special ordinance to provide for the grading and improvement of a portion of Second, Third, Mill, Jefferson, James, Cherry, Columbia, Marion, Madison, Spring, Seneca, University, Union, Pike and Pine Streets, in the City of Seattle, County of King and Territory of Washington." After due

consideration said ordinance is adopted by the following vote, towit; In favor of adoption Thomas Clancy, John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, Chas McDonald and G. L. Manning. Against adoption none.

And now the Ordinance Committee submit Ordinance No 289, the same being entitled, "A special ordinance to provide for the grading and improvement of Union Street, from a point midway between Third and Fourth Streets, to the center line of Eighth Streets, in the City of Seattle, County of King, Territory of Washington."

After due consideration said ordinance is adopted by the following vote, towit; In favor of adoption Thomas Clancy, John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, Chas McDonald and G. L. Manning. Against adoption none.

Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned.

Be it remembered that on this the 7th day of July A.D. 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chambers pursuant to law.

Present His Honor the Mayor L. P. Smith and councilmen Thos Clancy, Wm. A. Jennings, John Keenan, Chas McDonald, and John Collins.

Thereupon the following proceedings are had. A petition is received from the Sisters of Charity praying for the vacaton of the alley in Block 18 in Boren's additions; said petition is referred to the Street Committee.

A petition is received from Portman and Padden et al praying for a crossing on Front Street to Colemans block; said petition is referred to the Street Committee.

A petition is received from Thomas Clancy et al praying for the grading of Washington Street from Commercial Street to Fifteenth Street; said petition is granted and Ordinance Committee instructed to submit an ordianance in accordance therewith.

The following Officers are present, to wit: His Honor the Mayor L. P. Smith and CouncilmenJohn Collins, M. Densmore, Wm A. Jennings, John Keenan, & Charles McDonald. Thereupon the following proceedings are had; A petition is received from John J McGilvra & Others praying for a sidewalk on the Street Between Cherry & Madison Streets Referred to the Street Committee. A petition is received from G. C. Phinney praying for the right to clear in Pine & 9th Streets of C.C. Terry's plat; Thereupon the same is laid over. A petition is received from Jacob Brunn regarding property on West street. Refered to Street Committee. And now the Finance Committee returns the report of the City Justice with their approval of the same. Report filed. The Street Comtee returns the petition of G. M. Bowman et al for the opening of Battery Street with recommendation that the same be granted. Thereupon the prayer of the petition is granted. And now come Frank Peters and Wm Grose and make their several applications & Bonds for retail liquor licenses for the period of 3 months from the dates Aug 10 & Aug 1st, respectively. The following Offices are present, to wit: His Honor the Mayor H.G. Struve and Councilmen John Collins, Chas F. Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald, G. L. Manning and V.M. Rasin. Thereupon the following proceedings are has: Reports of Committees Received From Judiciary and Legislative, submitting an ordinance entitled "To provide for the purchase of certain real estate" From Health and Police, in the Communication of D. E. L. Smith for a 3 month leave of absence, recommending the granting of the prayer of said Communication. Adopted and petition granted. From Finances, on the claim of W. E. Boone, recommending the same be paid. Adopted. From Finances, on the matter of bids for job printing, recommending that the Clerk be authorozed to procure job work done and he may judge for the best interests of the City. Adopted and bids rejected. From Street and Street Improvements, on the petition of O.S. Wright et al for the opening Canal Street from 12th to 13th Streets, and 13th Street to be opened from Canal Street to a point 100 feet south of the south line of Catharine Street, recommending the granting of said petition. Adopted and petition granted. From Streets and Street Improvements, on the petition of A.K. Manning et al for the opening of 3rd Street from Battery to Blanchard Streets, recommending the granting of said petition. Adopted and petition granted. From Fire and Water Supply, on Fire Warden's Report recommending that the same be adopted. Adopted. From Licenses and Revenue recommending that licenses be

And now the Judiciary and Legislative Committee Submit Ordinance No. 307 entitled " A special Ordinance appropriating money "to pay audited bills" thereupon after due consideration said ordinance is adopted upon the following vote towit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald & Rasin; Against adoption none.

Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday September 15, 1882 at 7 1/2 o'clock p. m.
