Sept 29/82 Be it remembered that on this the 29th day of September 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment The following Officers are present, to wit: His Honor the Mayor H. G. Struve and Councilmen John Collins, O. F. Cosper, Charles F. Clancy, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald, G. L. Manning and U. M. Rasin Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions Received From Robert Russell et al for the enforcement of ordinances No.s 236 and 155 licensing Vehicles. Referred to Committee on Lic -ences and Revenue. From Moses Keezer et al for a gas lamp corner Mill and Terrace Streets. Referred to Committe on Gas Lights. From F. X. Prefontaine for a gas lamp corner 4th and Washington Streets. Referred to Committee on Gas Lights. Remonstrances Received From W. C. Hawthorne et al against the proposed regrading of Union Street. Referred to the Committee on Public Buildings, Property and Grounds. Communications Received From City Surveyor recommending the changing of the gradeline on 2d Street between Mill and King Streets. Referred to Committee on Streets and Street Improvements From City Attorney submitting to amend ordinance No. 197. Reports of Committees received From Judiciary and Legislative Submitting an ordinance to amend Sections 2 & 3 of ordinance No 246 From Public Buildings, Property and Grounds on certain needed changes required in New City Engine House. Ordered that the matter be referred to said Committee with instructions to act in the premises & to report thereon at next meeting From Health and Police recommending that the Police Force be uniformed. Recommitted with instructions to submit proper style of uniform.

159 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Oct. 23/82 Ordered that Frank Peters be allowed to withdraw his application for a retail liquor license and re-file the same. And now Frank Peters files his application for a retail liquor license. Referred to the Committe on Licenses and Revenue. Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned. Attest: E S Osborne Clerk Approved H G Struve Mayor Office of the Mayor of the City of Seattle October 25, 1882 A meeting of the Council is hereby called to convene on Thursday October 26 1882 at 7&1/2 o'clock p.m. at the Council Chamber for the transaction of any business that may be brought before it. H G Stuve Mayor Oct. 26/82 Be it remembered that on this the 26th day of October 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to the call of His Honor the Mayor. The following Officers are present, to wit: Councilmen O.F. Cosper, Chas F. Clancy, Fred Gasch, G. L. Manning and U.M. Rasin. Thereupon the following proceedings are had. By reason of the absence from the City of His Honor the Mayor Councilman U.M. Rasin is elected to the position of Acting Mayor to serve during such absence. Petitions Received From W.D. Lyts for the right to erect a building near the Columbia Street Incline. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From John H. Carr et al for a sidewalk on the north side of Jackson Street from the west side of 8th Street to the the west side of 6th Street. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From F.X. Prefontaine et al for a refunding concert license paid by Catholic Church. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From E.A. Turner et al for the right to raise a sidewalk on 8th Street fronting Lot 5 Block 40 and to grade and raise crosswalk. Referred to the Commitee on Streets and Street Improvements. From M. S. Booth et al for a street lamp corner Jefforson and 5th Streets. Referred to Gas Light Committee. From W. N. Bell with a reference to a sidewalk in front of Odd Fellows Hall on Front Street in BellTown. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From E.W. Thereupon the following proceedings are had. Petitions Received From Wm. H. Reeves et al for a sidewalk on Seneca Street between Front and 3rd Streets. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. Committee Reports Received From Streets submitting bids for Jackson Streets Improvement. Ordered that all bids be rejected. From Streets and Street Improvements recommending that the Contract for Union Street sidewalk under Ord. No. 324 be awarded to Hoole and Simpson on their bid for the same. Adopted. Ordered that the bond of said Contractors be fixed in the sum of $500.00 and that the City Attorney prepare the proper contract and fund. From Streets and Street Improvements recommending that the contract for the Washington Street sidewalk under Ordinance No. 326 be awarded to A.S. Parkham in his bid for the same. Adopted.
