Against adoption none. Special Orders of the Day And now in pursuance to the Notice duly published the Council proceeds to the correction and equalization of the following Assessment Rolls under Ordinance No 369 & filed April 12, 1883, to wit: Washington Street Improvement: South 2d Street Improvement. 269 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE June 1/83 No. 375 be awarded to G.N. Alexander & Co on their said bid. Adopted upon said G.N. Alexander & Co executing a bond in the sum of $1000. From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the granting of the petition of Mary A. Calhoun for the constuction of a sidewalk on Pike Street. Adopted. From Streets recommending the grading of Pike Street from Front to the alley betwwen Front and Second Streets and for sidewalks on both sides of Pike Street from Front to 3rd Street. Adopted upon the following votes, to wit: In favor of said Improvements Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning & Rasin, Against the same none. City Attorney instructed to submit an Ordinance therefor. From Streets and Street Improvements recommending the opening of of Cedar Street. Adopted and Street Commissioner instructed to open the same. From Licenses & Revenues rejecting the petition of John Brannen for leave to use license. Adopted and petition denied. From Streets approving Street Commissioner's report. Adopted. From Fire Committee asking 1 weeks further time on the petition of the Hook & Ladder Co. Granted. From Committee on Columbia Street Engine House reporting that the Bid of Ranke & Lohse is the lowest bid that is accompanied by a proper bond. Adopted. Against adoption none Special Orders of the Day And now in pursuance to the notice duly published the Council proceeds to the correction and equalization of the assessment roll for the Improvement of Pike Street under Ordinance No. 375 and Files May 14 1883. Pending which such roll is referred to a special Committee to wit: Clancy, Gasch & Manning with instructions to report therein Monday June 4 1883 at 8 o'clock p.m. Miscellaneous Ordered that South 3rd Street be graded from Mill Street to Main Street and that the Attorney submit an Ordinance therefor. Adopted upon the following vote, towit: In favor of said order Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald, Manning & Rasin. Against the same none. And now W.B. Thompson tenders his resignation of the Office of Policeman. Thereupon the same is accepted. And now the Council proceeds to fill such vacany by an election. Whereupon Charles Lind receiving a majority of all the votes of the Councilmen present is duly declared elected to fill such vacancy for the term provided by law.
