162 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Nov. 3/82 Be it remembered that on this the 3rd day of November 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law. The following Officers are present, to wit: Councilmen O.F. Cosper, Chas F. Clancy, Fred Gasch, G. L. Manning and U.M. Rasin. Thereupon the following proceedings are had. By reason of the absence from the City of His Honor the Mayor Councilman U.M. Rasin is elected to the position of Acting Mayor to serve during such absence. Petitions Received From W.D. Lyts for the right to erect a building near the Columbia Street Incline. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From John H. Carr et al for a sidewalk on the north side of Jackson Street from the west side of 8th Street to the the west side of 6th Street. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From F.X. Prefontaine et al for a refunding concert license paid by Catholic Church. Referred to the Committee on Streets and Street Improvements. From E.A. Turner et al for the right to raise a sidewalk on 8th Street fronting Lot 5 Block 40 and to grade and raise crosswalk. Referred to the Commitee on Streets and Street Improvements. From M. S. Booth et al for a street lamp corner Jefforson and 5th Streets. Referred to Gas Light Committee. From W. N. 176 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Nov 20/82 of $500. Ordered that the City Attorney be and he is hereby instructed to prepare the proper bond and contract. A report is received from the Gas Comtee. recommending that the contract for gas work be awarded to John Spencer on his bid and that the contract for furnishing lamp posts be awarded to the Washington Iron Works on its bid. Adopted. Ordered that the bond of John Spencer be fixed in due sum of $250 and that the bond of the Washington Iron Works be fixed in the sum of $200. Ordered that the Citty Atty prepare the proper contracts and bonds. Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned. After due consideration said Ordinance is adopted upon the following vote. to wit: In favor of adoption Collins, Cosper, Clancy, Gasch, McDonald and Manning. Against adoption none. Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Tuesday December 19, 1882 Attest:E F Osborne Clerk Approved John Collins Acting Mayor Dec 19/82 Be it remembered that on this the 19th day of December 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in the Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following Officers are present His Honor Acting Mayor Councilman John Collins and Councilman O.F. Cosper, Fred Gasch, Charles McDonald and G.L. Manning. Thereupon the following proceedings are had Petitions Received From Pumphrey and Lowman et al for a standing place for teams. Reffered to the City Attorney. Committees Reports Received From Five and Water supply approving the estimate of the Surveyor for a brick cistern corner 3rd and Marion Streets. Laid over From Five and Water supply recommending an additional section to the proposed ammendment to Ordinance No. 278 reserving the right to the City to purchase certain Water Works. Adopted and referred to the City Attorney to make such amendment & fixing the date of such purchase after 10 years. From Gas Lights submitting a plan for a gas lamp post. Referred to Gas Committee for a new contract and Bond to the executed by Washington Iron Works for each post at former rates of compensation.
