Trustees.

Pursuant to a notice issued by the Secretary a meeting of the Trustees was holden at the house of Dr Jacob Bigelow at . Present Messrs Story. Bigelow. Gould. Parker Crockett C.P. Curtis

Superintendants Assistant.

Voted. That the Superintendant Mr Howe be authorized to em -ploy an assistant in all cases where his health requires it.

Purchase of Lands

Voted. That the committee on finance be authorized to make the purchase of the Pomeroy place and any other lands adjoin ing the Cemetery grounds as they may see fit to be added thereto.

Chapel.

Voted. That the Chapel when erected shall be built of granite.

Voted. To adjourn to meet again at this place, at .

Trustees

No meeting having convened agreeably to the adjournment as next above recorded, the usual notice having been is sued by the Secretary for another meeting of the trustees at the house of Dr Bigelow, at , there were then and there present Messrs Story. Bigelow. Read. Par -ker. B.R. Curtis. C.P. Curtis. Brimmer, and Crockett and also the Treasurer Mr. Bond. After some discussion in relation to the proposed Chapel at Mount Auburn Judge Story having formally stated his own opinion to be in favor of the immediate erection of a Chapel

retired from the meeting and Mr C.P. Curtis was called to the chair. It was then.

Chapel

Voted. That this Corporation proceed to the erection of a Chapel.

Voted. That the building be erected in fine hammered granite.

Voted. To amend the last vote by inserting the word "Quincy" before the word "Granite".

Voted. That the building Committee consist of Dr Jacob Bigelow, Charles P. Curtis and James Read with power to sign the contracts on behalf of this Corporation for erecting the Chapel at an expense not exceeding twenty five thousand dollars.

Mr Brimmer having withdrawn it was.

Stone estate

Voted. That Charles P. Curtis Esquire, and the Secretary be a committee with power to complete the purchase from the heirs of the late Moses Stone, and ^ p 190 [er seq?] with power to execute any such deeds in relation to the present interests of the Corporation in the dower estate of the late Mrs Pomeroy as they shall deem proper.

Perpetual repair of Lots.

Voted. That in every case in which any person shall execute an instrument of trust in the form hitherto prescribed, and thereby transfer to this Corporation such sum as the Committee on lots may in each case approve (not less than one hundred dollars) in trust for the good ordering and care of any special lot and for other purpose as therein

Voted That this meeting be now dissolved.

Lot 959 Representative of

Voted. That Joseph Torrey one of the heirs or devises of Mrs Deborah Torrey be designated to represent the lot owned by her at her decease, during the pleasure of the Trustees as soon as written consent of the other heirs or devisees of said Mrs D. Torrey interested in said lot shall be filed with the Secretary.

Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Suffolk ss.. Then persoally appeared Henry M. Parker and made oath that he would faithfully perform the duties of the Secretary of the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn. Before me Manlius S. Clarke Justice of the Peace.

In the absence of the Secretary Geo. Wm Bond was chosen Secretary pro tem.

Chapel windows.

Dr. Bigelow presented and read two letters from Scotland respecting stained glass windows for the Chapel. Also he exhibited designs for the same. Whereupon it was.
