Upon nomination by the Chair. Messrs Curtis, Nazro and Sleeper were appointed such Committee.

Annual Meeting _

Voted that the Secretary be authorized to procure a place for the Annual Meeting.

The meeting was then adjourned. Attest Austin J. Coolidge Secretary.

The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was held at the usual place on _

There were present, the President, Messrs Cheever, Crocker, Curtis, Gould, Little, Nazro, Read and Sleeper.

"The Committee to whom was referred the vote of the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn, at their last Annual Meeting on the subject of the care of Lots,

Report

Report on Vote of Props at last Annual Meeting _

That the Trustees feel bound to receive with respectful attention all suggestions coming from the Proprietors; but that it is impossible for them to keep in proper order an aggregate of nearly three thousand private lots, which number is constantly increasing; and at the same time to pay the necessary expenses of the Cemetery, without consuming more than their whole income, and frustrating the purposes of the permanent fund, which they have covenanted with their new proprietors to increase and keep inviolate. Besides which, the Committee have doubts whether

the Trustees would have any right to enter and repair, or otherwise alter, the lots of proprietors, without the consent and specific instructions of each proprietor to that effect.

The foregoing report was read and it was Voted unanimously that the same be accepted & filed. _

Supply of Water _

Mr Curtis for the Special Committee chosen in February last respecting obtaining a supply of water for Mount Auburn from the Cambridge Water Works, stated that the Committee are not yet prepared to make any report, and he moved, and it was

Voted that the subject be referred to the next board of Trustees.

Harvard College Lots _

The Committee to whom was referred the memorial of Mr Lawrence, Treasurer of Harvard College, respecting the boundaries of the lot in the Cemetery belonging to that Corporation _ with full power _

Reported that they had arranged with the Treasurer of the College that said lot should be surveyed, and that it should be optional with him whether the monuments now said to encroach upon the lands of this Corporation should be removed within the present bounds, or whether sufficient land should be exchanged from another part

Upon motion of Mr William Sturgis, it was voted that a committee of five gentlemen, to the appointed by the chair, be chosen to retire and report twelve persons to be elected as Trustees for the ensuing year.

Voted that a Committee of three be appointed by the chair to receive, assort and count the votes for trustees.
