John Farnham refused license Ordered that the application of John Farnham for a retail license to sell malt liquors be rejected for the reason that the place where said license is to be used is a locality in which the sale of disposal of intoxicating or malt liquors should not be allowed. 657 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Committee Reports The Comtee on Public Buildings, Property & Grounds make the following report on the Claim of James McNaught for damages on a/c of Main Street Grade. Seattle W T July 3rd 1885 "To the Hon Mayor & Common Council of Seattle Your judiciary Committee have investigated the within claim and report the same back with the recommendation that the same be allowed in the sum of Eight Hundred and Fifty one & 62/100 Dollars in Condition that Mr McNaught will pay the full amount of principle and interest of all special assessments for street improvements upon property owned by him at date of the assessments. Walter Graham Wm A Harrington Alfred Snyder Ordered that said report be & is hereby adopted From Gas Committee recommending a gas lamp for the corner of Spring & 3rd Street. 698 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Oct 16 1885 From Same Committee receiving petitionof S Sloane et al praying that North 7th St be opened and extended from Blanchard to Battery and recommending that the same be granted when convenient. Petition returned to Committee for a more definite report. From Committee on Sewers returning the petition of F Wilhelm et al for a box drain East side of 5th St between James and Cherry Streets with recommend that the same be report adopted From Same Committee returning petition of Fred Gasch et al for a sewer from Washington St sewer through South 5th Street to Mill St with necessary branches recommending that the same be granted. Report adopted From Same Commitee recommending the construction of a sewer in Union Street. On motion a sewer is ordered constructed in Union Street and the Clerk authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of the same in accordance with the plans and specifications to be filed.
