3rd Augt 1850 while we were gone to Lynchg Our folks finished weeding corn in Lot choped out new ground, done up some fencing & then went to cutting in new ground

-8th. This week we have been Halling Rails Hilling up our second yrs Land Tobacco & it has Rained nearly every day this week ground very wet., clear this morning weather remarkably hot. & Rains generally from North East. Thunder cloudy, — worked, cutting Halling Rails & shrubing fresh field.

12th cloudy this morning, choping in new ground Fed Toping at new ground - Henry & Jane Plowing Lot Tobacco back of Garden, –

13th worming over Tobacco clear warm weather

14th Plowed & Hilled up little second yrs Tobaccoground

16 Went to Mill 1 Bbl Corn getting up apples

17th Beeting apples for Cider & drying Lilas child a Girl Born this morning about Sun rise, nights cool, weather dry & Hot in day

18th cloudy all day & Rained a little — cool

19th. worming succoring & toping Tobacco — Mr Whiteheads machine came saturday evening broke We have not commenced getting out our yet wheat

20 Getting up apples & Baling Sewed little Hog pen in Turnips — by spring —

21 Machining wheat had David & John neal A Crews & son abram Mrs Colemans Kit & James

22. Finished my own by 12 Oclock & then got out Mr Neals & moved the machine

23rd worming new ground Tobacco & choping it over this day — — A Fine rain this evening —

24 Rained a little last night, fine weather Mr Danl Johns has been sick at Mr Lewis for some time & Died the 22nd in night —

1854 aprl 28 Mr A. Crews Dr to number of days I let him have a Horse 1 day Horse plowing nearly 1 day - 0.18 ½ Do 1st May 1854 - - - 0.13

this summer 1854 every thing is very high & scarce havewe have given to Mrs Crews 4 lbs coffee Mr Fisher blend 4 lbs coffee & to Mrs Betsy Kelley 4 lbs coffee we have Plowed for Mr Neal ½ day for Mr Crews 2 Horses & Plows 1 day he paid the Boys plowing & I found Horses & all cut Crews wheat etc etc

Novr & Decr 1854 Stacks Halled Sometime ago& Divided 8 Logs Halled 2 Logs yesterday to saw mill yates

27 Halled 3 Logs to day 2 Large 1 smallerones

Dec 6 Halled 2 Logs & Carrd stone in morning 1 log for Railing 1 for sheeting In evening Card 2 more 1 for squared edged plant & 1 for Hhd staves

Decr 16-1854 Halled 2 more Large Logs to yates Saw mill 1 for Paling, one for weather boarding Begun to Plow this morning cleaning out drian] on Branch Cutting in new ground nearly done cutting little growth etc - cloudy & likeRainfor

25th 25th Sent 1 Log to Yates for Sheeting. 14 feet

Feby 16th Sent another for Hhd staves 9½ ft

1857 28th Jany = Raining this morning wind N. E. all hands striping Tobacco this morning We have but little Tobacco down raining a little all day finished Striping all the Tobacco We have down then spining Jinning cotton etc etc cold rain this day —

29th Thursday no nannie yet, I am going to send to Mrs Hunts to day to see If I can hear from them, - sent 2 Bags Corn to Mill for meal & sent them on Capt Gilberts after the Cotton If nannie has not come If she has they come back home shelling corn making Broms & spining etc, cleared off this morning, last night & sleet soon & then cleared off very pretty moderate day overhead very sloppy & bad underfoot We taking down Tobacco in new prize Barn & old Do Halled up stack Oats & Halled Out Straw to day – Bob Started after his mistress & nannie & stayed 3 days got back wednesday so we hear to day at night & could not cross the River did not any thing from them at all going to start back In morning Friday he could not cross on acct of the Ice now tho fresh & cant till when they will get home, Very sloppy to day & snow melts smartly, O Lord have mercy upon us all & resign us to thy will, - It looks like rain again

30th Friday ground hard frozen cloudy, halling wood Sent Buck to P.O. & mill Jordan & Henry halled up Stack fodder this morning. Some of them Cutting, moderate weather Lent Mr. A Crews 8 Oz Sole Leather 2 Soles & 2 threads for shoes, this day It commenced snowing a little in evening.

1857 March 4th All Hands malling Pilling wood Buck Halling to House, Henry & Claiborne will go to Plowing in Lot at 12 Oclock weather a little moderated this morning

5th All hands gone to malling Plowing etc But it set in to Raining & we are going to strip Tobacco in new prize Barn Jerry started yesterday morning wednesday to go with Henry Clay to go with Mrs Clement to CH Lowry Ran away & come down here first of this week I sent Jerry with him back & I hear that Malissa is cutting [swills?] etc etc etc got a Letter form Jacob P. the 1st of this month, answered it forthwith & wrote to Cousin Cleo too to council him at Capt Boxleys

6th Burning Brush malling Prizing Tobacco Shelling corn & then Plowing up Lot for Tobacco. Turned off cool & clear Mr Crews help me striped Tobacco yesterday went to see Cap Fitzgerald to day & settled with him for Fannie W Fitzgerald as Gudn & Exer & took in her bonds for Hire & Rent 1856 —

7th Very cold & windy this morning Sent Jordan to Mill 1 Barrel corn for meal first of the new crop we have sent to mill 2 Turns at mill to bring is old corn, Sent Handcock 3 Gallons Vinigar malling in new ground Plowing Kate & Sallie came down here this evening

8th Nannie Kate & Jere went to meeting to Riceville very cool cloudy day -

9th Plowing malling & cleaning out fence Row around new ground expect Halling up Oats fodder & chaff this evening Cool & cloudy & like for falling weather Lent Andrew Crews a horse to go to mill to day
