Dennys Park addition to the City of Seattle" recommending that the same be approved. adopted Ordered that the vote of levy in orer to provide funds to pay for the Improvement of Battery Street under Ordinance No. 601 be & the same is hereby fixed at 68 mills on the Dollar. A report is rec'd from the Cemetery Commissioners on Cemetery matters. Referred to the Comtee on Public Buildings, Property & Grounds. Ordered that the Council as a body accompanied by the Surveyor proceed on Saturday the 22d inst to examine the matter of a Sewer for Union Street. A proposal is rec'd from M. J. 569 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE. Dec 5/84 the following vote, towit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Frye, Latimer, Northrup, Rinehart, Snyder, Sox & Yesler. Against adoption none. An Ordinance is submitted entitled "A special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" Adopted upon the following vote, towit: In favor of adoption Clancy, Frye, Latimer, Northrup,Rinehart, Snyder, Sox & Yesler. Against adoption none. Miscellaneous The Motion to request the Mayor to instruct the Police Force not to enforce the Sunday law is lost upon the following vote, towit In favor of said Motion Clancy & Yesler. Against the same Frye, Latimer,Northrup, Rinehart, Snyder, & Sox Orderedhat the vote of Assessment in order provide funds to pay for the improvement of Jackson Street under Ordinance No. 592 be & the same is hereby fixed at 8 4/10 mills on the Dollar. Ordered that the Surveyor be & is hereby instructed to carry out the provisions of the Report made by the Sewer Comtee on the Marion Street Sewer Extension during the month of November last. Ordered that the Attorney be & is hereby instructed to submit certain amendments to Sec. 8 of Ordinance No. 397. Ordered that the Attorney be & is hereby instructed to prepare a Contract with Gas Company for furnishing gas for the ensuing year. Ordered that the Rules submitted at this meeting by the Chief of Police for the Government of the Police Force be returned to said Chief of Police Ordered that the Attorney be & is hereby instructed to so amend the Ordinance regulating Chimneys in roofs as to authorize the erection of tile chimneys Ordered that the Council stand now adjourned until Friday Dec. 12, 1884 at 7 O'Clock P. Dec 12/84 Be it remembered that on this the 12th day of December 1884 The Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in it's Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The Following Officers are present Towit: His Honor the Mayor John Leary and Councilmen Geo. F. Frye, W.A. Harrington, B.L. Northup, Alfred Snyder, H.L. Yesler, W.G. Latimer & W.V. Rinehart. Thereupon the following proceedings are had: Petitions Rec'd From Trustees of Lake View Cemetery et al for repairing the Cemetery Road, Referred to Street Comtee From the Chief of Police suspending Officer Thomas Ross from the Police Force because of Drunkenness while on duty. In favor of said order Frye, Harrington, Northrup, Snyder, Yesler, Latimer, & Rinehart. Against the same; none. Communications and Reports From the Health officer on the petition of L.W. Foss recommending that an extension of time be granted to L.W. Foss and W.W. Evans in which to remove their slaughter Houses and that the Hog ranch Nuisance maintained by H. Chaffee be abated. Ordered that L.W. Foss and W.W. Evans have until April 1, 1885 in which to remove their Slaughter Houses. From the Street Committee on the petition of D.T. Denny et al for the extension and establishment of Rollin Street north to Pike Street at Fifth Street, recommending the granting of the petition. That the said Rollin Street be extended to stop at Sixth Street. Report adopted From Street Committee recommending that the claim of James Bogart be allowed in the sum of $15.00 ordered that the said claim be allowed in the sum of $24.60 From the Committee on Public Buildings, Property & grounds on Cemetery Matters. Report Adopted From the Com tee on Fire & Water supply recommending the placing of Fire Hydrants as follows: Corners of Front & Madison; Front and Columbia and Commercial & Washington.

Ordinances The Attorney submits an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance to Authorize the execution of a Contract to furnish Gas for Lighting the public streets" After due consideration said Ordinance is adopted upon the following vote Towit: In favor of adoption Frye, Harrington, Latimer, Northup, Rinehart, Snyder, & Yesler. Against adoption: None An Ordinance is submitted entitiled "A special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" Adopted upon the following vote, Towit: In favor of adoption Frye, Harrington, Latimer, Northup, Rinehart, Snyder, & Yesler. Miscellaneous The Chief of the Fire department submits proposals to furnish beds etc for use of Fire Department. Referred to Fire Com tee Ordered that hereafter the pay of the Street Commissioner be paid out of the City Fund. Ordered that the Chief of Police be & is hereby instructed to transfer one of the Day Policemen to the Night force
