24th March 1859 Our Friend & Bro John D Hunt Buried this evenining at 4 or 5 Oclock in evening, good many poeple -
25. went over to examine bro Hunts papers John Dew with me & Danl R. Hunt. Chumbly sick all day. Finished Sewing Oats & now Plowing for corn Jacob claiborne & Jerry Smith Cutting & malling wood & Rails - moderate weather
26 I went down to see Jas Shields about going to Lynch’g they have 5 prized Hhds at aspen Grove, 3 Lugs 2 seconds,- Lila sick & has been for about a week, moderate weather Jacob claiborne & Jerry Smith began this morning to cut down Pines down below Susan Roark Sallie Started to School went with Fannie yesterday, 25th March to Board at $4 pr month as long as she goes to school to Kate,
26th I went to aspen Grove, balance Plowing on far branch for corn -
27th I rode over to Bro Hunts place
28th Plowing on same branch 3 plows Mr Chumbly shoemaking for Sallie to daytill evening

30th Shrubing for corn Beding for Do Cutting Post for yard, etc Sent this morning to Hodnetts Kelleys Shields & Whiteheads to see about my young Hogs but could hear a word from them all my young Hogs gone, & has been more or less for sometime
31st Plowing for Corn on Branch next to Capt Whiteheads balance stoping Gullies & washed places in Lot & Mr Chumbly worked on smoke house putting on weather boarding I went to Fannies & Mr Faris for her [illegible]

1860 Jany 24th Burnt sewed fenced in & covered 1 Plant Bed on Road & fixed for another, - William A Shields here helping us burn to day
25th Burnt Sewed fenced in & covered Plant Bed on Road, put Guano on both, etc - Mr Shields helped us again to day & left
26th went to Mr Pannills to day to get destraining warrant vs H. Wyatt for J D Hunts Est went to aspen Grove, in evening. claiborne malling sent to Post office this morning, Halling leaves 5 Loads for Stables Barn, etc Halled up 1 Stack Oats this evening - I am fixing to start to Danville in the morning If its notraining
27th & 28. I went to Danville brot Sallie home fine weather, Plowing & mauling next to Whiteheads, Beding for Corn
29 Stayed at home D. R Hunt come after Fannie
30th Halled wood mauling etc piling Brush
31st Halling Rails mauling next to Whitehead began to Rain a little. I went to old place & Hodnetts to day
Feby 1st Rained & this morning gro -und covered with snow, about 1 or 2 Inches Deep, shelling Corn spining Sent Henry to Mill 2½ Bus. wheat for chop 2½ Do for mean & 2½ Bushels Corn for meal & 1 at mill to bring home, I am going to Sarah McCullocks —
February 2nd Sent Jerry Smith to Yates shop & Mill Carrd 2 Bus. wheat for beat flour Big Broad axe to fix by Friday & little Broad to do to day & bring home, etc - very cold this morning 10 Degrees below zero,- clear weather
3rd very cold I went to aspen Grove mauling & Burning Brush next to Capt Whiteheads

1860 Feby 18th went to mauling wood in evening
Feby 19. Started to Court, Fannie stayed all night Sunday night Jere & Sallie went back to school cold day
20. Turned moderate mauling & Cutting wood in new ground, got home Monday night weather moderate
21st Halled Rails till 12 Oclock & then Henry went to Laying off Corn Rows Balance Fencing next to Capt whiteheads I went to Post office Peaks Wallers Vaughans Mr Moses & Fannie W Fitzgerald
22 Fencing on Road to day Wm Shields here Halled up Oats & Halling rails till evening & then begin to Plow in orchard I went to aspen Grove & made [Lines]
2325Fencing on Road & striped Tobacco ½ day & took down some Wednesday & then fenced on Road from Branch Wm Shields worked Thursday Friday & Saturday Rolled Logs 2 days nearly & fenced one - this week Henry Halled wood this evening very windy Friday & turned cold
26 Stayed at home to see Mrs Pannill
27 Went to Court House sent after Cotton Turn of wheat to Yates, & 1 to whiteheads Plowed & Stacked Rails next to whiteheads
28 Plowing & Fencing new ground fence made fence on Road yesterday fine weather at this time
29th Fencing at new ground & nearly finished Plowing in Lot rained a little,-
March 1st Sent Henry & Claiborne to Hodnetts to Roll Logs. Plowing, fine day cleared of[f] Beautiful weather,

Short Corn & shattered put in & 25½ Barrels in new Corn House on Road,
Decr 5 Finished Housing at aspen Grove Plan put in House on Road new corn house for to hall home 50 Bbls put in shed for Overseer 5 Bbls. put in old Corn house on hill for use of Plantation 52½ Bbls Short Corn to feed hogs etc supposed 18 Bbls shatter corn for our Hogs Large Pile settled wheat & Cotton to day 16½ Bushels on hand down in Hdd & some in Basket to sow where Corn Piles was & some in Bbl sorry for chickens - etc etc -
6th Cut in new ground & Halled wood, Halled Corn from Jas Shields, 6½ Bbls @$3. I went with Mrs Hunt to her Place to try to rent it failed,- very cold. Bob has not been here this whole week but to Eat
7. Fast day at Strait Stone & meeting Sent Robin to shop, cutting & Halling wood. very cold,- got 985 feet at Colo Dickinson sale @55¢ pr 100 amtg to $5.41 Due H. W Faris for sawing Plank 63
8th Sent Henry to Colo Dickinsons got all the plank bot at his sale. & the Log sawed at Faris, Halled wood Cutting in new ground to day we went to meetingSS.
9 Sent Henry to Dickinson & got all the Plank stilling one day Cutting & finished new ground on road
10. finished making, Low wine Cutting down Pines. Bot 6 Hogs from Hodnett. Killed them Monday
11th Halled Corn for Mr Hunt from JR shields
