A good day. Cloudy this morning but no rain. Ben & Henry helped Marvin cut tobacco. Jim fired his all day and part of tonight. Josie gathered two baskets of tomatoes this morning and Jim brought them to the house. I helped peel them. Josie put up 24 quarts.

I went to Marvins this evening. Norman Booker sowed him a turnip patch in the garden this evening. I cant get use to the idie that Booker is going to come there. I most shurely hate to think that Marvin & Carrie is going to leave.

A good day. Had a little rain a bout day this morning. Need more bad. Ben sowed some rye this morning. Jim shelled some corn this morning. Ben went to the mill this evening. Carried corn & rye & wheat. I went with him on the waggon. I fished while they ground the grain. I caught several fish. I intend to fry them in the morning.

Josie has raked a place in the garden and sowed turnip seed on it. I do hope that they may come up and grow.

Ben and Josie dug bait for me while I changed my dress and shoes.

A rainy day. We all staid at home. I got dinner. Cooked meat & turnip greens and a chicken & stewed prunes. Josie had a cake baked. Josie is feeling mighty bad today. I said we all staid at home. I forgot Henry went home with Hugh Brumfield. Jim did not come home. Wilson Starkey got stuck in the mud near the house. Ben went & helped him get out. I wrote two letters today. One to Carrie & one to Julia Fergerson. Wish I could see them.
