Dec 6th Cutting Small growth in new ground went to Mr. Pannills for Mrs Hunt
Dec 7th. Sent Henry to mill 1 Bbl corn 1 Large Log for weather boarding & Bag cotton weighing 47 lb cutting logs to Day for Stable — etc etc etc
8 Raking leaves fixing straw Racks cutting in new ground put spts Turpentine on Hogs
9th rainy day & cool ——
10 - Halling wood ½ day for Mr Neal cutting in newground cloudy & cool Tobacco ½ daystriping
12. cutting Halling up logs for Stable
12. Malissa child a Boy Born about 8 ocl =ock in morning Raised Stable to day & laid floor in cutting House very cold cloudy & like for snow or Rain
13. Fed started to Mrs Hunts to make shoes grubing & Halling wood from new ground cart & waggon — still cloudy & like for snow
14 striping Tobacco in middle Barn Halled out 2 Loads straw. cloudy & like for Rain —cloudy & moderate striped yesterday & to day 86 sticks Lugs & 45 of short Tobacco —

3rd Augt 1850 while we were gone to Lynchg Our folks finished weeding corn in Lot choped out new ground, done up some fencing & then went to cutting in new ground
-8th. This week we have been Halling Rails Hilling up our second yrs Land Tobacco & it has Rained nearly every day this week ground very wet., clear this morning weather remarkably hot. & Rains generally from North East. Thunder cloudy, — worked, cutting Halling Rails & shrubing fresh field.
12th cloudy this morning, choping in new ground Fed Toping at new ground - Henry & Jane Plowing Lot Tobacco back of Garden, –
13th worming over Tobacco clear warm weather
14th Plowed & Hilled up little second yrs Tobaccoground
16 Went to Mill 1 Bbl Corn getting up apples
17th Beeting apples for Cider & drying Lilas child a Girl Born this morning about Sun rise, nights cool, weather dry & Hot in day
18th cloudy all day & Rained a little — cool
19th. worming succoring & toping Tobacco — Mr Whiteheads machine came saturday evening broke We have not commenced getting out our yet wheat
20 Getting up apples & Baling Sewed little Hog pen in Turnips — by spring —
21 Machining wheat had David & John neal A Crews & son abram Mrs Colemans Kit & James
22. Finished my own by 12 Oclock & then got out Mr Neals & moved the machine
23rd worming new ground Tobacco & choping it over this day — — A Fine rain this evening —
24 Rained a little last night, fine weather Mr Danl Johns has been sick at Mr Lewis for some time & Died the 22nd in night —

19th Plowing & Hilling up Lots of Tobacco, still Dry & nights Hot went to Mrs McC 18th & to see Hester. Sent Fed to mill 2 Turns of corn for me 1 for overseer & also 3 Bushels wheat for overseer —
20 21 & 22nd Clear & dry & nights a little cool
21st 22nd Plowing & Hilling up fresh ground on mountain Sent new waggon to shop again & Mrs Colmans Iron Going to day to Mrs McC. to grastys & Rice & in the route see about machine at Yates —
23rd Thrashing wheat & finished this day - Joel Hubbard machine — fair & Dry — fixing to Thrash at Mrs McCullocks, Keatts machine
24th going to carry the machine to Crew Miller this morning Fed sick yesterday & done the wheatnothing in choping in corn - finished Hilling up Tobacco [on?]
28th Halling Rock to build chimny to Henrys House still cloudy & like for Rain, wind Blew hard yesterday Sunday — Malissas child a Girl was Born Thursday morning before day Break say Juste after midnight, on the 24th July 1851.
29th went to Colo Smiths Plantation & to Mrs McCullock a little shower rain after I got home & in the night it rained again Smartly, my the tooth achwife got
30 Cloudy & like for more rain, We are Replanting our 2 Lots & fresh ground to day - plants from Capt Fitzgerald quarter
31st Replanting in second yrs ground nearly done will get done soon this morning A Fine Rain last night, & still cloudy J D owen went to Colo Dickinsons to get an overseer place this day
augt 2nd now gone to Mr Watson Wamacks on same business

1853 June 15 Expect to begin to Lay by corn this day sometimes, Henry halling wood this morning working out Peas etc to day — Fannie Here
16th Finished weeding Corn this day & worked Peas etc etc Cotton & all done & began to work new ground Tobacco Laying by mountain field Corn
17. Laying by mountain field corn choping in new ground Tobacco Dry & Hot weather fannie & Jacob gone
18- Finished Lying by mountain field with Plows Choping out new ground Tobacco. no Rain last evening – fine rain at Mrs Hunts, Laying by Corn in Johns’s field,Henry is gone to Mill 8 Bus Corn Lila had a Girl child 16th June 1853 Fed sick Sallie claiborne & milly ann Ben has measles –– Jordan Sandy Lowry abram Fed Cate Jacob Sallie & Clem has had mumphs & Jerry & perhaps some others.
21st began to Cut wheat in Lot - choped over mountain field Corn & now following Plows Laying by - in Johns s field Sandy & Pallor has measles, going to finish shearing sheep mark etc this morning Jordan & Lowry also in house measles this evening & with Federick & Lila, 9 down in the house at this time & Kitty has mumphs tho out
22nd We are cutting wheat next to or= chard & lot to day Abraham Crews helping & still dry & hot, oat drying up very much & Tobacco plants in the Beds, what we have have planted missing very much 4 of our plant Beds look well last week tho they may have Dyed since at mountain 2 in new new ground look well one is gone

13. Coltering & Hilling 2nd yrs Tobacco Land Halled up Stack fodder this morning Let John D Hunt have 2 or 3000 Collard Plants Finished Hilling fresh ground this evening & worked Out Potaotes Irish, & began to Hill in third years ground, cloudy & warm,Set out 2 Squares Greens in Garden
15. Coltering & Hilling in 3rd yrs ground put malissa to Hilling to day the 16th
16. Nannie went to Mr M Fitzgeralds yesterday Anns child Born on Sunday last Deformed in its Legs. - weather Dry -Kitty sick again this morning Hilling & Coltering in 3rd yrs ground Cate has gone to Store this morning for Fannie White Fitzgerald — took Down all Our Lugs & halling up Second from middle Barn & got it hanging out etc
22 last week weeding Corn & Plowing Corn Harrowing etc Henry Coltered bottoms for Tobacco in fresh ground also last Planted that is Cutt off & Planted Second yrs Land in Tobacco & also all tho Hills in 3rd yrs that we did not Cut off when we hilled it - we Just cut off & Planted our Hills that was not Cutt off Part of our 3rd yrs & part of new ground is yet to Plant besides the Lot & bottoms in fresh ground,
