1860 June 4th Mr Faris came worked about 2 Hours & went to Capt Whiteheads Milley Ann taken sick this morning

5th June Lilas Baby & Mary sick Milly Ann & Ell still sick, Mr Faris Came this morning. plowing corn in Lot. replanting Corn last we planted in Lot weeding cotton & Corn etc - Rained last evening clear this morning - Let Mr Bybee have for negroes over at Mr Hunts place 2 Galls molasses out of 5 got for them in my cask -

6th John P. Hunt started to school at Cap^t J Richards in Lunenburg this day My Buggy Harness Bob & Top from Catalpha,- John been at work here every day this week J P Hunt is to board at Cap^t Richards at $6 pr month & $1.50 pr month now for Tuition, gave Pride $1.00 & Bob $1.50 for Expense,- fine morning Wednesday - Rained in the evening & stoped Mr Faris about 4 Oclock,- & stoped plowers Daniel R Hunt came to see Mrs Hunt & Mrs Hargrave, stayed all night

7th Rained hard again last night, & this morning we are replanting Tobacco Mr Faris at work again, DR Hunt Mrs Hargrave Sal Tate & Matty staid all night John at work this morning too Mrs Hunt gets worse, last night & this morning

8th Mr Faris & Jno Clark here at work Mrs Hunt rather better this morning she gave Dan^l R Hunt who left this morning $10. & Gave Me her money to take care of for her say $40 Haling sand this morning Laying by fresh ground Corn. Choping out with Hoes, etc Mr Cothran spaying our shoats say 11 in all here 2 got out.

24th Bob Sick & Mrs Hunt Complaining went down to aspen Grove Thrashing wheat sent 4 hands & my Horses. did not get done clem & charles at home Shrubing Corn Land Plowed up Turnip Patch fine weather

25th Finishing Thrashing wheat at aspen Grove Machine will go to Mrs Pannills to day Hired Ben to go with it @ $8 pr month Mr Wright came here to work on yard this morning – fine weather this morning I have got Lucy bot from Fannie & like her very well to ride

26th machine at Mrs Pannills Mr Wright here, Halling manure on Turnip Patch this morning choping & hilling up Tobacco Second time, next to Whiteheads,- Jerry went to see Isaac ^overbyyesterday

27th Finished Thrashing at Mrs Pannills & got to James McHaneys about 2 Oclock, had to feed Horses & fix got out one stack this day

27. Machine at James McHaneys getting out wheat Ben with it at home striping Tobacco Mr Wright here fixing & work on Railing. Mr Cothran met met me yesterday to help fix down machine - cloudy & like for Rain this morning machine went to John Shields from McHaney did not do any thing at all

28th last evening a fine shower of rain about 10 Oclock Mrs Coleman Sent for Nannie I went with her got back about 1 oclock quite unwell to day myself, gave Mrs Coleman a dose of Calomel, went to Chumneys this morning Sent to yates to have ^hischild coffin made

13. Striping Tobacco Doct A W Thompson came again yesterday to old place & Bybees, he has been to Bybees 2 times stayed all night there last night Emma getting Better, a little. 14 Toping worming & succoring Tobacco to day Bybee sent Ben for the Doct last night for his Son Joseph who is bad off Nannie Mrs Hunt Sallie Alice & Doran gone to Mrs Colemans – to day —

15th Very Cool indeed for August Mr Wright here at work Mr Shields 2 sons David & W^m here helping us beet apples - D^r Thompson come back again to Jo^s Bybee sent for again

16th Mr Wright here again to day & David Shields yesterday & to day & W^m Shields ½ day stoped, Bob come here this morning Cool day for august. fixing to raise Barn, Beeting apples etc put Post for yd in ground this morning & burnt them,- Jerry had Charly Shod at Vaughans yesterday, White Back Cow had a calf 13th or 14th this month, Mr Wright stayed till about 3 oclock, making 1 day & 3 Hours. David Shields stayed beeting apples 2 Days W^m stayed a little over ½ day Finished apples up & Laid foundation for Barn

Went up Jerrys Sent waggon & little Henry Carried Mules & bro^t home 2 Horse waggon, with 6 sheep left 5 up there for Jerry bro^t home my waggon Gear Corn Shelter warping bars spools frames. side saddle of Sallers. 2 Grub Hoe 1 Pole axe, 1 oxe ring mended by abram 1 Clevice D^o 1 pr stretchers some sweet Potatoes to eat. Prides waggon quilting frames & Basket & spools, 1 mole board new 1 Horse, 5 or 6 old n^o. 1 Plow P[o]ints to Plow this winter & my chop axe bro^t last Saturday, Rained all this evening

3rd Janry 1866. Halling wood & Cutting in new ground to day, has not rained any Snow smartly melted my wife Pride & Doran went to Jerrys to day & Susan Roarks. Peggy very sick & Rhoda with her

6th. Cutting in new ground this day weather more moderate Old Peggy Died at Cedar Hill on the 4th day of this month & Buried at Mr Hunt Place, Mr. Edward Bybee had her Coffin made -

7th. I staid at home nannie went to Mrs Colemans & Pride & Doran with her Pride went to Edge Hill Very cold & windy in evening & cloudy

8th Janry. Very cold & windy (clear) Henry & claiborne burning Brush in new ground Little Henry Henry halling wood with Mules - to day

9th. Burning Brush & halling wood windy & cold

10th Finished Cutting fixing to mall & will begin to day in new to mall,

17th Mr Dalton Hilling up & Plowing lot Tobacco Plowing Corn above Same House & next to orchard Rob^t Daltons Plow Beam broke & had to put in another Tommy filling out rows in Guano Corn Fannie White here,

18 went to strait stone to Register Robert & Tommy Plowing in Guanoed corn did not quite get done Mr Dalton & Sam choping in Corn after Plows to day,

19 Finished laying by Corn with Plows & choped it over too except Cotton Patch Lot. Plowing & Hilling up Lot Tobacco, my wife gone to Mrs Colemans to day I went to Keens yesterday

20th Finished choping corn &^{began to} Plowing & Hilling up Lot Tobacco tho all had holliday about 2 Hours by Sun Pride & Doran came home this day Mattie & alice came to Mrs Colemans the 18 day of July ¬Cool nights & hot days

21st Going to Sunday School to day
