H & Jesse pulling rafters on shed to Granary - this morning

24th worming & succoring Tobacco till 10 Oclock & went to Grubbing & cutting Mrs Mary Moseley Died wednesday evening 22nd day of augt & buried at Mr Jno D Hunts on Friday 24th Aug 1855

25 Halling Log to Mill Yates saw mill this morning waggon & Cart

Sept 2nd went to association at Sandy Creek MH near Milton, this week, We were while I was gone Ditching toping worming & succoring Tobacco & Shrubing Corn Land

3rd Toping worming & succoring Tobacco this morning & then to pulling fodder Jerry is Sick Dr Tho mpson been to see him Twice & Johnson 2 times & me once, - Sent to mill 8 bushels Corn for meal & get 2 Bags 4 Bus. there ground last week Henry got Shingles one or 2 days

13th From the 1st of this month we have been attending to Tobacco pulling fodder Cutting Tops Mr Evans Ditching etc etc I went over to Bolletot school gone 4 days don't like the Country at all Jacob here a day or Two ago to see us & get his cloth to make his winter clothes James M Fitzgerald gone to Springs we are gathering in Our Blades Stacking etc etc worming & succoring Tobacco

24th Cutting Tobacco last week part of week, stacked all our Blade fodder wormed & succored over tobacco I went to meeting at Strait Stone till wednesday & then I was taken sick & have been ever since Mr Fitzgerald has returned Springs no better from

10th Novr Fountain Came here to finish my Corn house yesterday friday a little after 12 Oclock & worked till Saturday Night @ $14 pr month

11th Cloudy & drisling Rain —

19th Fountain Wyatt finished Corn House & we have settled for it & we are Housing Corn

23 finished Housing all we have shach out & are halling up balance weather Cool & windy - etc –– –– Henry Federick Jordan alse malissa & Lila had Blankets this day - Sometime ago I gave Claiborne Abram & little Henry Caps & Lowry my Hat. - very dry fall & first of Decr

3rd Decemr I went to see Mr Fitzgerald last Friday & Stayed there till he Died saturday night about 10 Oclock in night, – We are Grubing Cutting wood & halling up Corn stalks last week, this morning Henry goes to Mill with log for Tobacco Barn Balance Cutting & Grubbing —

4 Halling Logs to Yates Saw Mill Grubbing Jordan cut wood at Mr Neals – James M Fitzgerald Died at his Fathers on the 1st day of Decemr 1855 about 10 Oclock in the night We have burnt & sewed 2 Large Plant Bed this week & last week Say 1st Decr 1855 got our sheep this week Killed this 12th Decr 1855 8 Fat Hogs Halling wood & Cutting & Grubing

12th We have Cold open weather very dry fall indeed so far – – – – – –

20th Cutting little growth in new ground Grubbing in Corn field on Johns branch Raising weaving House have Commenced plowing on branch for Corn fine open weather Jordan gone to with 3 Bushels screan wheat for chop 2 Bus Do for flour & 4 Bus. Corn for meal

Feby 27th 1856 Walter Evans came this morning [illegible] Raining this morning, Shelling Corn shoemaking alse & Kitty spining, Hung up Balance of Pork say 24 m 24 S 24 H 11 Joles 83 in all Shelling Corn 3 or 4 of them,- moderate weather

28. Fencing & Halling wood & Rails Jordan & Sandy Malling at stony pint Mr Evans began 27th wednesday to work on Garden tho it rained in morning Thursday he is at work on it to day making most 2 days - Henry is going to Hall rails this evening around Corn field fence

29th Fencing this day Henry gone to saw & Griss Mill Carrd Log for Paling & 2 Bags for meal, one at mill bring home & railing Fine weather Fannie come down & staid 3 days Sandy malling at stony pint

March 1st Raining Halling Racks & taking down Tobacco - — I went up to mount airy & in presence of Mr Wm C Grasty Registered a letter to Pumpkin pile PO Polk County Geo enclosing $49 S C money to Edmond D Johns being his part of Francis McCullocks Debt Due McCullocks Est,- — Cold Rainto day Mr Evans worked 3 days pd him & he is gone

8th Sent to Saw & Griss mill 4 Bus corn for meal & 1 Log for Pailings got 4 Bus meal, Plowing for Corn Burnt Plant Bed on Road & sewed it this week pt not burnt, but Guanoed, malling wood, cleaning up in corn field made 2 Bridges to day - Planted Irish Potatoes to day & Goard Seed, etc Covered all our Plant Beds yesterday Mr Wm Dews Died this day soon in morning & Buried on Sunday the 9th March 1856

10th sent up to Fannies to day she rented the Kitchen Peg moved there to him as long as they entirely agree @ $1.00 – Plowing for Corn Grubbing up Rushes on Ditch malling wood in new ground

1857Put it out She is dreadfully burnt from Jany16th knees up nearly to her chin & We had only one small bottle of Pain Killer & had to Send to Mr Adams at 5 oclock Jordan got back about light brought only 1 vial of P D. Killer & 2 of Roses from adams - she seem much easier than she was before day we are cutting big growth in new ground Halling wood To day waggon & Cart – my hand & thumb is burnt badly & we applied the Pain Killer only & sweet oil & a little Cream in it — Peggy is badly burnt from her Knees up I went to Anderson & settled my Acct & fannie whites,- all to finishing, very cold day Mr. Pannill Came here & fixed Colo Smiths matters, etc Halled wood to day waggon & Cart. Bot. & paid for 1 pr Kid Gloves of Barber & Thompson. Paid Doct Thompson for Mrs Hunt the $6 She gave me for him & took his Rect

17th I went to meeting & from there to Mr Tuckers take him & his wifes relinquishment for the Grand of Land whereon Joshua Shields Died - & when I got back Peggy is a great deal worse & I sent for Doct Thompson forthwith & Sister coleman also who is here at this time She had been been Puking off & on all night with Puking something like Black vomit. no Passage since she was burnt & Jordan returned about 9 oclock& said Doct Thompson would start here as soon as the moon was up and it Commenced Snowing & wind severe from N. E. & N. W. Severe night. no Doct Thompson this morning yet & I shall send for Doct Andrew ThompsonJno H Estes in the Course of One Hour If Dr J. C. does not come

18th Jany 1857 we have had a dreadful night of it Peggy like dying all night Lester Coleman here Clem & Arch married etc & it commenced snowing some time in the night & this morning is Dreadfull on every living thing Peggy frequently inquires after her Miss Nancie, Snow drifted very much & I reckon Shoe deep or more — [?] Oclock, Same day Send for Doct Estes & Came about 11 Oclock & began to work On Peggy & She continued to get worse till Just before 2 she breathed her last while we were at Dinner tho Doct Gave her an injection of Castor Oil Spts Turpentine & soap Suds after she had a Passage in a few minutes She died, he also put on Blisters on her arms & ankles. etc, - she Died very Easy & Seemed to be pretty much in her senses to the last - paid Doct $2.00 Still Snowing hard wind blowing from N. E. & such a day I never saw in my life Snow has drifted very much

19th Snowed nearly all night & the Snow is about Knee deep generally & where it is drifted it is as deep as the fence & the wind has blowed the Snow all day like it was Snowing, the great= =est Snow Storm I ever saw allmost in my life. this morning & till nearly 12 Oclock we were cleaning the Snow out of our houses & dug the grave for Peggy But did not finish the coffin Mr F wyatt came & went to work on it about 2 Oclock in evening, done nothing also but Cut wood & make fires & feed, there was a bay mare came here yesterday Sunday in the storm
