Saturday, August 30, 1919
Cloudy but no rain to speak of. We need rain.
Jim staid at the barn all day and is there yet.
Ben & Owen and the boys cut tobacco. They finished Owens and Jims. They are at the barn now stringing leaves.
This evening I went and got some sweet potatoes and washed them.
I went to Marvins a little while late this evening. Carrie was makeing Roy a blouse. I brought it home with me and have finished the button holes & sewed on the buttons. Marvin had finished tieing Hatties tobacco & commenced on Paul Bennetts.

Monday January 10, 1921
A bad morning. Snowed until twelve oclock.
Ben made the fire in the stove and the fire place for the first time this winter. Ben milked for me. I was glad as it was so bad. Ben & Jim stripped tobacco. Owen helped them some. Josie sowed some. Made three aprons and a blouse. I done what cooking was done. The children did not go to school.
Heard tonight that Kate Hubbards baby was some better. I hope he may get well. Ben has a bad colde tonight. Hope he may soon feel better.
Josie and some of the children has sore eyes. Josie is hard headed as can be.
Thursday September 1, 1921
A clear hot day. Ben & Jim and Henry, Edna, Franklin, Reese, Paul, Roy all went to Altavista to a show. I think they all enjoyed it very much. Today is Paul Smiths birth day. He is nine years olde. Josie sewed some this evening.
I went to Marvins a while. Carrie was makeing Roy some blouses. I am going to make the button holes.
I put my glasses in the range this morning and ruined them. I have mised them so much today.

Monday, February 6, 1922
A good day. Very muddy. Jim and Ben went to the island this morning. They carried two calves. They got home a bout one oclock. Jim went to Renan this evening. Ben cut some wood. Josie made Pat a pair of pants and a blouse. I good dinner & and mended a rug. Henry & Edna went to school. The first time that Edna had bin in two weeks. Hugh Brumfield went to school today. Heard today that Cordie was sick a gain. I am very sorry for her and hope she may get well soon. Oh how I want to see Carrie & and her family.

Wednesday, August 29, 1923
A good day. A little rain. Could work most of the time. Carrie made preserves and pickles today. I peeled the peaches and got most of the dinner. Carrie sewed some. I worked the button holes in two blouses. I got a letter from home this morning. They were all well. Marvin has bin fireing on some tobacco all day. Carrie went to Mr McLau[gh]lins. She though[t] that she would invite Mrs. McLau[gh]lin to come and spend the day but there was no one at home.
