A clear cold morning wind and a little snow this evening. Ben & Jim ground their axes this morning. Josie & I got dinner.
Ben carried Nellie and Evylin to Gretna this evening. I went with them did not suffer much with colde. Josie had supper about done when we got home.
Tonight Thelma & Mary and Ben has gone to Lee Brumfields to a dance. Mary and Thelma went to George Blairs,

A cold day cloudy tonight. Ben went to Straight Stone this morning to register his car. Jim went to the woods to cut after they got back. They hauled wood. They have a nice pile of wood at the wood pile.
Josie got dinner. I staid with the baby. I went to Marvins this evening. His children has very bad colds and the children here has bad colds, Jim had a letter from Nellie saying that Mr. Walker was sick a heap of late. 9 30 oclock

Monday, January 8, 1923
A good day. The men stripped tobacco. Grace staied all night. She walked part of the way home. Kate Harvey come and staid with us most of the day. Demia? Blair come a while. Nellie come home today. We were all glad that they all come.
Jose has been bad off all day.
John Ward wife come here this morning (colored people). She carried some clothes home to iron. Etta Gilbert come. She washed dishes and swept the floor for me. I sent some butter to Elise East today. Hope she may sell it for me.

A good day. Ben & Jim hauled some wood and cut it with John Ward and Mr. Booker helped them. Mollie Reynolds come this morning and again this evening. She brought cake and pickle. I boiled two hams to day and had two hens cleaned. Lillian Kent come to see Josie today. Josie has bin very bad all day. Nellie washed and dressed Mabel (?) today. She has bin good today. Today the children went to School. Heared today over the phone that Ola Jefferson's boy was very sick. I am so sorry for them. I never heared of more sickness in my life. I don't think it is God's will. I wish they all could get well.

A colde windy day. Ben & Jim burned a plant bed today. Nellie & I got dinner. Mrs Carr staid up stairs most of the day. The children went to school. I got a letter from Effie. She writes that there is a lot of sicknesss at Blacks Burg. Hattie washed here today. We have had snow showers today. I have not heard from the sick around here today. Do hope they are better by now. I have mended some things to day. Among them was Edna's cloak. Edna & Mabel both went upstairs tonight with Mrs. Carr.
