127 Columbia Wash Feb 3rd 1896 the town Council of the Town of Columbia meet persuant to adjournment Mayor Peirson presiding: Roll Called: and following Members present: C N Groat, D C Brown, L Almquist, A A Hepler and F J Brown Minutes of last meeting read and approved; F J Brown filed oath of office and took his seat as councilman. An Ordinance prescribing a place for incarceration of prisoners to be known as ordinance No 62 was read and laid over to next meeting; Mayor appointed F J Brown and D C Brown as Committee on Lights. Bill of A H Hepler for 5 gal Coal Oil to the amount of $1.50 read and on motion warrant was ordered on Emergency fund forthe same. Bill of A H Hepler services as Deputy Marshal for $6.68 read and referred to finance committee Finance Committee finding the said amount included in warrant No 168 issuec to J C Huff Recommend that said warrant be canceled and 2 warrants issued instead. And on motion warrants were ordered as follows: A H Hepler Warrant No169 amt 6.68 J C Huff Warrant No170 amt 5.92 Resignation of J C Huff a Marshal read and on motion was accepted; salary of J C Huff as Marshal to Feb. 3rd in the Amount $4.17 was on motion ordered paid by warrant on General Fund. 133 Columbia Wash June 1st 1896 The Town Council of the Town of Columbia met in regular meeting: Roll Called all councilmen present Attorney and Clerk absent F J Brown appointed clerk pro tem: Minutes of the last meeting read and approved Marshal reported on condition of Water Works and the collections of Water rents Report referred to Water Committee: Ordinance No 64 on grade assessments postponed to next meeting: On motion of C N Groat Seconded by F J Brown that an ordinance be drawn Repealing the Dog Tax Ordinance. Groat, Almquist and F J Brown voting Aye: Hepler and D C Brown voting no: Bill of A H Hepler for 25 cts was allowed and on motion Warrant was ordered on emergency fund to pay the same: Bill for $6.00 by Lowman & Hanford was allowed and warrant ordered on Emergency fund to pay the same: On motion $15.00 was transferred from General Fundto the Emergency Fund: On motion warrants were ordered in payment of Officer's Salaries for Jan Feb and march 1896. F J Browne, D C Brown, L Almquist A A Hepler and C N Groat: The Mayor being absent F J Brown was elected Mayor pro tem for the evening: Minutes of last meeting read and approved: Bill of Metropolitan Printing Co in the sum of $3.50 for tickets & Poll Books for Annual Election was read and on motion was ordered paid out on Emergency Fund: Bill of C P Hutchison in the sum of $6.50 for time and expense serving legal papers was read and on motion warrant ordered an emergency fund: Bill of J A Kelso for $40.00 read at last meeting and referred to Finance Committee being returned and reported on favorably: On motion warrant was ordered on General Fund: Marshal's Annual report read and referred to Finance Committee. 148 Columbia Wash Jan 12th 1/97 The Town Council of the Town of Columbia met persuant to adjournment: The Mayor being absent the meeting was called to order by C N Groat: Roll called and the following answered to their names. D C Brown, A A Hepler, L Almquist and C N Groat and J A Kelso clerk: Moved and 2nd that D C Brown be elected Mayor pro tem for the evening: carried.
