Wednesday July 27, 1921
A good day. No rain in sight. Ben & Jim worked on the tobacco this morning. This evening they went to the saw mill. Staid all the evening. They got their lumber.
Virginia went home this morning. Julia Brumfield went with her. Edna has gone to Mag Brumfields tonight. I miss her very much. Josie ironed some this morning & sewed this evening. I went to Marvins this evening. Reese and Henry spent most of their time playing in the branch. Marvin went with Ben & Jim to the saw mill. The land is so dry that suckers dont grow so the men are idle.
Tuesday August 2, 1921
A good day. Ben was at Renan all day. He was a judge at an election. Jim & Henry sucker tobacco all day.
Reese Smith carried his mother & Josie and I to Renan to vote. Kate Harvey went to preaching this evening. Josie got the dinner. I churned to day.
Friday August 5, 1921
A good day. Some cloud about but no rain. Jim & Ben and Henry finished going over the tobacco by dinner. Today they hauled rocks & sand to work on the hearth in the dining room. Josie ironed today. I done something all the morning. This evening Reese carried Edna and I to Whitefalls to fish. I caught several. Edna and Reese staid at the car most of the time.
Josie put up six quarts of tomatoes. Mrs Car peeled the tomatoes. That was a big help.
Thursday August 11, 1921
A good day. Jim and Henry hauled some sand and put a round the spring. Jim cut up the mulberrie tree. Henry brought the water for to night.
Josie spent the day at Reynolds. She had a good day. Ben helped to put on the roof at Mrs Cars place and build a porch. I staid at home for one time with the children. I milked and churned and got dinner and supper. Did not try to do any other work.
Mabel was very good for her to be. Carrie & family went to Gretna to see their new home. Kate Harvey went with them.
Friday August 12, 1921
A good day. Ben went to Mr Dews to work on a porch. Josie & Franklin and Mabel went to Mr Jim Powers to spend the day. Mrs Car was sick. Jim Brumfield went home today. He left here walking. Dont know how he made it. Hope he got some way to ride.
Henry, Edna and I staid here to day. We made it fine. I worked as little on we coud make out with. Edna & Henry helpe to cut some brush and drag it out of the yard.
