7 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE May 7 1886 Councilman Furth gives notice of intention to introduce a high license ordinance on or before the first regular meeting in June City Attorney submits an ordinance entitled "An Ordinance governing the traffic in intoxicating liquors in Ord 731 the City of Seattle" which is adopted by the following vote: in favor of the adoption thereof Councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, G W Hall,W A Harrington, T W Lake Chas McDonald , J J Post and G W Young against none. Councilman McDonald reports that W F Glick the contractor for lighting the street lamps has given up his contract and stopped performing the services under said contract. The Councilman therefore recommends that a contract the Councilman therefore Thomas Emerson for lighting the street lamps. On motion it is ordered that the contract with W F Glick for lighting street lamps be rescinded for failure on the part of said W F Glick to perform the services required by said contract. On motionit is ordered that a contract be enteres into with Thomas Emerson for lighting the street lamps at the rate of 70 cents per lamp per month, and City Attorney is directed to draw said contract. On motion a Poll tax ordinance is laid on the table until next meeting. On motion matter of Madison St extension is laid on the table until some future time. On motion it is ordered that the Chief of Police be directed to notify property owners to remove rubbish and obstruction from the streets and alleys adjoining their property.
