21: [continued from preceding page] duties for the day. Mr James B. Hermann & 2nd asst went to Newport after supplies and etc to go house-keeping.

22: Moderate to fresh breeze S.E. to S. West these 24 hours with frequent rain showers. Sea quite smooth. General duties for the day. 1st asst helping 2nd asst work today. Keeper went to Newport after supplies. Received 5 ft long copper strip from Engineer.

23: Moderate breeze to light variable winds these 24 hours with frequent rain & hail squalls. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. 1st asst went fishing. Steam Schooner Aquesta??? sailed for Portland. Steamer Homer sailed for for San Francisco.

24: Light wind to moderate breeze East first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light East wind with clear, fine and cool weather during 24 hours. Sea very smooth. Keeper & 1st asst completed putting copper strip on tower. 1st asst went fishing. 2nd asst went to Newport.

25: Light variable winds these 24 hours with clear, fine and cool weather. Sea very smooth. 1st and 2nd assts cleaning Reflectors, lamp, oil buckets and etc today. Keeper doing house work makeing butter & etc. 1st asst went fishing. U.S. Steamer Manzanita laying off the Yaquina bar this morning and entered Yaquina at 9.15 A.M.

26: Light wind to moderate & fresh breeze East these 24 hours with clear, fine and cool weather. Sea smooth. 1st asst went fishing and to Newport after the mail. Keepers painting the window that Mr Withers put into 2nd asst Quarters this month. U.S. Light-House Tender Manzanita crossed out from Yaquina put a buoy down an sailed south at 9.15 A.M. returned and crossed into Yaquina at 1 P.M.

27: Strong to moderate breeze East these 24 hours with clear, fine and cool weather. Sea very smooth. General duties for the day. 1st asst went fishing. Keeper workin on the Quarterly returns & etc. The barometer stands 30 today.

28: Light wind to moderate and fresh breeze East these 24 hours with clear, fine and cool weather. Sea very smooth. General duties for the day. 1st asst went fishing. 2nd asst James B. Hermann went to Newport to take mail & get supplies.

29: Moderate and fresh breeze to a gale with sleet first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours fair and cool weather. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. 1st asst cut his foot today with an axe. Steamer Homer arrived from San Francisco. Keeper went to Newport.

30: Fresh to moderate breeze East with frequent rain showers during these 24 hours. Sea very smooth. The barometer is 29.80 today. General duties for the day. Keeper making out Quarterly, Monthly, & Absence returns today.

31: Moderate breeze East to light S. East wind with frequent rain showers first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours fair and cool weather. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. Steamer Homer sailed for San Francisco. 2nd asst went to Newport to mail the Quarterly & monthly returns.
