A good day. Mollie and I come home to day.

Johnson and Robert and Christenia met Mollie.

Ben and Edna met me. We made the trip from Portsmouth home all right. Howard Ferguson come with us to the depot. Julia and Howard was just as nice to us as they could be.

I found them all as well as usual. Had two cows to come fresh while I was gone. I have bin well while I was gone. To night my tooth hurts me.

A good day. Miss Fannie Power staid here last night. Ben went to Mr Bailiss's this morning and sewed up a cut on his horse.

Ben and family went to Robert Hubbards to day. Fannie went home.

I staid home by my self to day.

All at home and a bed now. I went to Marvins a few minutes this evening. They were not at home.

A good day. Ben and family went to Rob Hubbards. Paul went with Marvin to Sunday School. He eat dinner at Marvins. Paul and Frank Blair went some where on Georges car. George and Denia was at Marvins this evening. Ren Worsham and family was at Marvins. Nat Wooding and family and Miss Alice Wooding was there two.

I staid at home til three oclock then I went to Marvins. I had bakers bread and cheese for dinner. Carrie sent them to me.

A good day. We Denia and I was at Letcher Craddocks. Ella and I went fishing.

Otho Blair and Sallie and Cordie come for us. We come by Gretna. Otho brought me home. Lizzie Bennett is here tonight.

Rob and Ella Hubbard and all the children come to night. Mr Sam Hubbard brough them. They had bin to supper.

A good day. Rob Hubbard and family spent the day here. Ben carried them home. Josie went with them. This evening George and Denia and Otho and Sallie Blair come here. Lizzie Bennett went with them home.

The children and I eat our supper and the children have all gone to bed.

Ben and Josie have not come home yet.

A good day. Jim & Ben went to Lee Brumfields this evening & Henry.

Josie went to Rob Hubbards this morning. Edna & Franklin and I staid home all day.

Paul Bennett come a while this evening. I am all ways glad to see Paul.

Lucius Gravely passed here to day. He said he would take the school at Renan for a while so I guess the children will start to school in the morning.

A rainy day. Jim made him a tomato bed. Josie ironed and got dinner.

Ben come home from Danville tonight. He sold tobacco there today. Mayhew carried it on his truck.

Henry went to school today. I went to Carries a while this evening.

Jim hung up the meat this morning.

We heard to day that Willie Brumfield went to Robert Laynes. We thought that he would come to see us but he did not come.

A cloudy day and a little snow. Jim and Sarah Emerson & two children went from here this morning. They went to Mrs Graveleys. Ben went to Marvins and while he was gone Willie Brumfield come. He eat dinner with us then Ben carried him by Robert Laynes and to Long Island on his way to Richmond. I was glad that he come that long.

After Ben and Willie went a way Josie and I and the children went to Marvins a while. Ben come home at dark to night.

A bad day. There was more snow on the ground than had bin this winter. It is all gone to night.

Josie ironed this evening.

Jim & Ben went to Renan this evening. Mr. Owen & Board Dews went to Mr. Jessie Mays sale. Marvin Smith bought Kate Harvey two pigs to day. He bought them from Robert Starkey. I am so glad that he could get them.

Franklin is sick I am afraid. He is so cross.

Henry did not go to school to day.

A good day. I went with Mr Dews to Cedar Forest. Mrs Lewis went also. Jim Brumfield carried me as far as Dews home. We then went on a waggon. Mr Mayhew & Robert went on Mayhews truck. I never saw as many people fishing on one day.

Nellie & Evylin come to day.

Mr. Owen went after guano. There was lots of people hauling fertilizer.

Wren come over to the river where I was and talked with me a while. I certainly did appreciate his comeing.

I left everything for Josie to do to day. Milkin and churning & cookin. I would like to do what I think is right a bout the work but cant do enough to suit them not if I stay at home and work all the time.

A clear windy day. Some rain last night. The men folks worked on their tobacco land all day. Mr Robert Vaden and Smith of Gretna was here today. They wanted the use of the school house for a speakin Sat night.

Josie and I both had a hand in gettin dinner.

This evenin I went to Mr Owens. Mrs Dews was there. I come home and Josie and the children all went to Marvins. Carrie showed us her new things that she got at Altavista. Marvin had made him a hot bed. Mr Owen made one this evening.

A good day. It rained this morning at two oclock this morning. We all staid at home until after dinner time.

Ben & family went to Rob Hubards. Come back to Jim Powers. They got supper there. They had ham and ice cream.

I went to Marvins. Ethel Worsham and all of her family. They have a nice lot of children.

Dr Owens son and Mr Ruckers son was there. I come home & milked the cows and got supper for Jim and I.

A good day. Jim fired tobacco all day. Quit at night. Has cured two houses of primings. Edwin staid here all day. Paul Bennett & Loney come a little while this morning. Paul got his hair cut this evening. Ben and family went to Jim Powers and Rob Hubards.

I milked & got supper and Jim, Edwin, and I eat before they got home. I have not heard from Marvins to day.

Edwin finished reading Philo Gubb to day & slept two hours.

I read some in the land mark & [?].

A clear colde day. The boys hauled & shucked some corn. Mr Jim Doss got three pigs from here today.

Josie done a big washing. She washed at the house.

I got dinner.

Edna did not go to school to day. She has a very bad colde.

Mr Mayhew & his son Robert come tonight to play cards.

The baby is cross tonight. Josie is in Henrys bed a sleep with her.

A good day. All of us staid at home until twelve oclock. Then Ben & family went to Rob Hubbards. I went to Marvins. Kate Harvey and Dr Wigginton and Pearl come and I was glad to see them. Marvin and Jim walked a round most of the evening. Mrs Edmons sent for the dr this evening. Dr Wigginton went to see her. Ben brought five nice fish home with him. I was glad to get them.

Josie and the baby staid with Mrs Hubbard tonight and will stay until Wednesday if nothing happens.

A cloudy day. Ben harrowed all the morning. This evening he went to Rob Hubbards for Josie & the baby. Franklin went with him. They got home a bout night. Jim cut on the ditch ba[?] getting wood for winter.

I went to Carries a few minutes.

Henry & Edna went to school. It is cool tonight. Hope it wont frost.

Henry has my paper.

A beautiful day. Ben and family except Henry went to Mr Jim Powers and Rob Hubbards. Ben & Mr Mayhew & Richard Wooding went to Hubbards. Went to the fish trap but did not get any fish. They got home at dark.

I staid at home most of the day. I went to Marvins. They went to Kate Harveys. I went with them. Kate had company. Dr Wigginton and Pearl, Effie and Hellen Brumfield, Miss Virginia Moses, two of the Farmer children.

I come home and fed the chickens. Brought water and made coffee & baked bread.

A good day. Ben and Josie, Julia, Edna & Franklin and Mabel went to Rob Hubbards to spend the day. This evening Ben & Josie & Rob & Ella went to the Bruce place in Charlott Co. They went to look at the beautiful grounds.

I staid at home & fed the chickens and washed dishes and churned. I eat dinner by myself to day. Then I went to Marvins this evening. They did not have any company.

A good day. Ben & Jim worked on the house all day and did not get near all done that they want to do. Josie ironed some. Mrs Car churned. I got dinner.

Mrs Butcher & Mrs Dalton come a while. I was glad to see them. Mrs Butcher looks well and young for her. John & Edwin come this evening. I am glad to see them. Heard today that Jack Harvey is on his way home. He is sick. I am sorry for his mother and him. Heard today that Rorner James died this morning. There is several that dont care if he is dead.

Josie is lookin for Rob & Ella to morrow.

A good day and a busy day. John and Edwin was here. Mrs Car was here.

Rob Hubbard & Ella and three children and Mr Ran & wife come. Mr Ran went to Rufus Cars and Rufus come here with him. I was glad for them to come to see Ben and Josie. Ben carried Mrs Car home this evening. I am always glad for Mrs Car to stay with Josie.

Ben & Jim had a few water mellons. I think all of them enjoyed them.

A good day. Earl Bennett staid here all night last night. Ben & family went to Rob Hubbards. Mrs Car went with them.

I staid at home most of the day. Went to Marvins this evening. They had company. Lee & Grace and Mr John Smith & Gallie Burger was there. Reese went to Gretna to meet Jim. All of the children and Hugh Brumfield went. Mr Hargrave was buried today.

A colde windy day. Ben stripped tobacco. He finished a curing. Henry tied all the time that Ben was sorting and Josie part of the time. Jim went to Chatham. Today was Nellies birth day. Reese Smith carried Jim and Paul and I went. I bought several things. Reubin and Robbert Reynols come with Reese as far as their home. They had bin to Black Stone to play football and was on their way back to Chatham. Josie ironed to day and got dinner and supper. I went to Marvins this evening. Carrie was ironing. Henry & Ben went to Renan late this evening. Ben bought a peice of beef for Sundays dinner.

A colde clear day. We had company all day and until bed time. Henry Brumfield & Irvin Harvey, Floyed Reynols, Aubra Brumfield, Hugh Brumfield & his mother & Bulah & Else was here at dinner and Mollie & Rubin & Robbert Floid & Chritenia Reynols was here tonight. I was glad to have them all to see us.

I went to Johnson Reynolds this evening. Mollie & Christenia was going to Lee Brumfields. Kate Harvey come after potato slips. Robert brought me home. Ben had started after me.

A good day. Ben & Henry went to the mill. Staid and got the grinding. Got home after dark. Mr Owen finished fireing two cureings. To night Jim will stay with his barn tonight. Josie & Franklin are both sick tonight. I went to Reynols to day to see Julia. They had a lot of company mostly their own folks. Robert brought me home. I went by Marvins. Carrie was finishing washing. I pittie the young house keepers.

A cloudy day. No rain yet. We all staid at home all day. Ben worked on his car some.

Robert & Reubin Reynolds come a few minutes. I was glad that they come. They would not stay for dinner.

Josie & I got dinner. We had a roast hen and a very nice cake and not much besides.

A very cool day for the last of May. We need rain so they people can finish planting tobacco. Ben & Norman [Booker?] walked a round some this morning then Ben carried [mms] Car to Mr. Towers. They come here for dinner then thay started to Charlottsvill. I hope they got there ok. Wish I knowed about them Reubin & Robbert & Christenia & Jane Reynolds come to see us a while this evening Asa Anderson come to thake Frannie Power home. I will miss Fannie. We found Jims turkey here tonight.

A good day. The land is [two?] wet to work. Jim & Ben [?] tobacco most of the day. They helped Norman Booker fix a [top?] for his well this evening. A good day. Jim & Ben worked on their grain land all day. Robbert Hubbard & wife went from here this evening. Carrie & the children come this evening. I was glad to see them. I hope they got home safe. Lizzie and I and the col girl shelled some corn to dry out to send to the mill. We want corn bread. Lizzie and I went to the [?] house to get potatoes and peas for dinner. I went to the barn to get sweet potatoes. Mr Kent carried the children part way to school.

A good day. We all eat dinner at home. Hinny & Edna went to Strait Stone to Sunday School. Jim started to Gretna with a load of tobacco. Less [Ro...k?]& his wife & baby & Elsie East come a few minutes. Nellie went with them. Was going to Chatham to night. Lee & Oscar come a few minutes for Nellie's hand pocket that she forgot. Mr Steven Davis and his wife & Robert Mayhew come to see Josie today. Mollie & Johnson come & brought Josie a nice box of some things to eat. Elsie brought grapes. Alice Thomson brought her a box of candy.
