REPUBLICAN MEETING.

Pursuant to call there was a large attendance of the members of the Republican club and other Republicans at the courthouse last evening.

Chairman Meyers called the meeting to order and stated that the primary reason of the gathering was the selection of candidates to run as delegates to the county convention. On motion a recess was taken to allow those present who had not signed the club roll to do so, and a large number availed themselves of the privilege. The club now has eighty-three names enrolled.

After considerable discussion the chair was instructed to appoint a committee of five to select twenty-five names from Carson precinct and six from Empire to be voted for at the primaries to be held on the 22d of September, and named the following gentlemen to act as such committee: E. B. Yerington, C. H. Maish, Gilbert Briggs, Henry David and J. P. Woodbury.

During the recess to allow the committee to perform their duty a little fracas occurred between two delegates but no harm resulted.

The committee reported the following as their selection: Carson -- A. Karge, A. G. Meyers, Charles Springmeyer, F. J. McCullough, E. C. Knapp, Ed. Burlington, J. W. Robinsn, A. Cohn, W. N. Evans, H. P. Gifford, C. H. Peters, R. B. Meder, Geo. A. Wilcox, Eugene Sweeney, C. J. Rulison, J. S. Cilley, S. B. Cohen, T. B. Rickey, James N. Reid, H. H. Howe, G. N. Folsom, Geo. A. Tyrrell, Thomas Oliver, J. B. Vieira, F. J. Steinmetz.

Empire -- George Wilson, O. F. Woodbury, John Adams, William Dietrich, John Crow and William Wiggins.

The report of the committee was adopted and the meeting adjourned with three cheers and a tiger for the Republican ticket.
