Remarks on board Thursday May 22th [22ND] 1834 Throughout thes[E] 24 hours we have thick and hazy. At sunrise had a shour [SHOWER] of rain. Wind NE. Stearing [STEERING] NNW. . At 2 PM saw a number of finbacks but no Sperm whales. Dull times for Cape Horners. Nothing more worth of remark. Latitude by obs vation [OBSERVATION] 29°=40 North Longitude by Cronometor [CHRONOMETER] 165°=45 East

Remarks on board Friday May 23th [23RD] 1834 Throughout thes[E] 24 hours we have thick Hazy weather with a fresh wind from the East. At 6 PM saw a shoal of Sperm whales. Came very nigh striking once or twice but cudnot [COULD NOT] get hold. Went on board an[D] shortened sail and stood each way through the night. At light maid [MADE] all sail. Steering SE by S on the wind. At 7AM tacked ship to the NE by N. Saw nothing worth of remark. Remarks on board Monday May 26th, 1834 The first part of thes[E] 24 hours we have thick and hazy with a light wind from the NE. Steering WSW. Spoke ship Enterprise of New Bedford. Do (DITTO = SPOKE SHIP] Three Brothers, 300 [lb CROSSED OUT]. Went on board. Had a gam. Gamed [GAMMED] about 12 hours. Good whail [WHALE] weather. Nothing more worth of remark. Remarks on bard [BOARD] Tuesday May 27th Throuhout [THROUGHOUT] thes[E] 24 hours we had a modrate [MODERATE] breeze and hazy weather. At 1 PM soke [SPOKE] the Three Brothers of Nantucket with 300 bbls [BARRELS], 9 months out. Hddent [HADN'T] sean [SEEN] a whale in forty days. At 8 PM shortened sail and steered ESE by the wind thrught [THROUGHOUT] the night. At 8 AM saw nothing. Tack to the Eastward. Saw two sails but now [NO] whales. Nothing more worth of remark. Latitude by obs vation [OBSERVATION] 29°=50 Longitude by Chronometor [CHRONOMETER] 166°=58 East

At 7 PM spoke the Comedor Rogers [COMMODORE RODGERS] with 800 bbls [BARRELS]. At 8 PM shortened sail and seered [STEERED] West by the wind. At 7 AM spoke the Hell Vetus [HELVETIUS] of New London with 1100 bbls [BARRELS]. At 8 AM atrong [A STRONG] breeze and hazy weather. Gaming [GAMMING] with the Hellvetus [HELVETIUS]. At 5 PM spoke ship Comedore Rogers [COMMODORE RODGERS], thirteen months out, 800 bbls [BARRELS], Tabor Master. At night reeft [REEFED] top sails. Latter part maid [MADE] all sail. Steering to the West. At 8 AM spoke ship Hellvishus [HELVETIUS] of New London, 23 months out, 1100 bbls [BARRELS]. At 11 AM had a shift of wind to NNW. Steering SW. Nothing more worth of remark. Latitude by obs vation [OBSERVATION] 28°=43 North Longitude by Cronometor [CHRONOMETER] 163°=42 East
