The day began with a light
breeze from the SE. At the meridian
Brass Hill [Brass Hill, Nova Scotia?]. Bore E distance 5 miles
from which I shall take my
departure for the next land Nth
ward at 1 oclok [o'clock]. Squared our yards
and steered WNW. One ship to
the leeward steering NW. At
2 clok [o'clock] started our fores. At 7 pm
shortened sail and backed for
the knight [night]. At day light the
land just in sight. Set all
sail and started for home with
a good [will?]. Employed in boiling.
Nothing more occurred. S [So?] remains.

Friday the 2ond
The day commenced with light
SE trades that continued. Ship
under all sail. Course WNW
by compass at 10 pm. Finished
boiling. Latter part hands employed
in sundry jobs as occaion
required. At 10 oclok [o'clock] am
took a lunar by measuring
the distance of the moon from
the sun. Longitude deduced
from this observation 17:30.
Nothing more occurred. So
remains. Lat obsd 7:39
