the W ward. Ship under all sail. Steering
E 1/2 S. One vessel in sight. A sturm [stern] standing
after us. Middle and latter part fresh breezes. Steer
E. Saw a nomber [number] of vessels standing in different
directions. Hands employed in sundry jobs as
occasion required. So goes all well. Lat obsd 37:05

11 Wednesday the 6th
Began with fresh breezes from the W ward.
Ship under all sail. Steering E be [by] compass.
Saw a nomber [number] of vessels steering different
courses. Middle and latter part light airs and dark
weather. Steer E. Saw 2 brigs. Supposed one to bee [be]
a first. Latter part hands employed in breakingout
the fore hatch. So goes all well. Sat obsd 37:17
Longitude 43:40

12 Thursday the 7th August
Begins with light airs from the W ward.
Steering E be [by] compass with all sail set. One
vessel a sturn [stern] standing after us. Middle and
latter part strong winds. Steer the same course.
Hands employed in breaking out the after hatch.
Carpenter makeing [making] potatoe bends [bins?]. So this day
has passed a way. Lat obsd 37:37 Long 40:50

13 Friday the 8th August
Commenced with a fresh wind from the
W ward. Steering E bee compass. Latter part light winds.
Steered the same course. Hands employed in
sundry jobs as occasion required . So goes.
