There were three aboriginals that I associated with during my teamster days. One was old Nugget, there was another one known as Teddy Brown and of course there was old Roger Bennett. He worked for the Wilchefskis and the Berthelsens at Deep Creek and Yankee Jack.

S.J.: It's a fair size. Not half, not a quarter as big as Deep Creek.
It would only be about a mile or so in off where we used to camp.

S.J.: Yes, well theres Gairoway Creek (????) then the swamps used to
start. After that. The swamps used to start. Well, then there's
a creek that comes down from pretty well up near Deep Creek, Lake.
Down from there. down into the swamp there. Joins onto the swamp.
There was a crossing there, and that's where the freshwater fish
were. They were about this long.

S.J. Did I like them. Well, when we went there they looked nice, you
know. Anyone took a photo of them, we liked the background. They
looked quite alright them lakes.
John What about Lake McKenzie?
S.J. Well, yes, thats further to the front beach than the Deep Creek
one. Its well out . . Boemingen. McKenzies is more in the centre
of the island, really, or more towards the front beach isn't it?
