CHEERING NEWS FROM ALBANY.

ALBANY, March 23, 1859.

F. DOUGLASS, ESQ.: DEAR FRIEND:—The
Concurrent Resolutions of the Legislature of
this State, to abolish the Property Qualifica-
tion, were called up this morning in the As-
sembly by Mr. Hutchinson of Orleans, who
made a few remarks in regard to the obvious
justice and necessity of the proposed amend-
ment. He was ably supported in short, per-
tinent remarks, by Messrs. Brockway, Spen-
cer, Scholefield, Andrews and others.

The vote on the final passage was 83 ayes
—all Republicans—and 21 nays—all Demo-
cratic.

They will, without doubt, pass the Senate
on Saturday or Monday. They are all right
then.

Your friend,

STEPHEN MYERS.
