Sir Edward Tertils salve called the chief of all salves

Take Rosin eight ounces virgins waxe & frankincense of each
four ounces mastick one ounce harts suet four ounces comphire trea
drames beat the Rosin mastick & frankincense in a mortar tagether to
fine powder then melt the rosin & wax together then put in the powders
& when they are wel melted strain it through a cloth into a bottle of
white wine & boyl it ta gether till it it be somwhat thick then let it
cool & put in the comphire & four ounces of of venice Turpentine drop
by drop lest it clumper stirring in continually then make it up in ta
rolls & do with it ta the pleasure of God & the health of man

The virtues of it

it is good for all woundes & sores old or new in any place
it cleanseth all festers in the flesh & heals more in nine days then
other salves cure in a moneth. it sleffers no dead flesh to ingender
or a bide wher it comes. it cureth the headach rubbing the temples
therewith. it cureth a salefleam face. it helpeth sinews that grow
stiffe or spring with labour or waxe dry for want of bloud
it draweth out rusty iron arrowheads stubs splints thars or what
saeuer is fixed in the flesh or wound. it cureth the biting of a mad
Dog or pricking of any venomous creature. it cureth all felow
or whit flaws. it is good for all festering cankers. it halpeth all
aches of the Liver Spleen kidneys back sides arme or legs
it cureth all biles blanes botches impostumes swellings & rumers
in any part of the body. it helpeth all aches & pains of the
genitors in man or woman. it cureth scabs itch wrenches
sprains stians gouts palsies dropsies & waters between the flesh & skin
it healeath the hemorthoides or piles in man or woman
it cureth th bloudy flux if the belly be anoynted there with
make a ceareloth there of ta heal all the aboue said malidies
with very many other wich for brate sake are omitted
