& distill a water thereof according to art, 2 or 3 times over:
This water is a most p cious thing ag st all Melancholy sick
-nesses, & in e pain & trembling of e heart: The quantity
to be given at / one time is a dram, w ch is e weight of 72
barley Corns.
{1}Mugwort steeped in Rose-water, help trembling or shaking
hands, if they wash therew th in e morning before they
wash in any thing else.
{1}To know if a person be p fectly dead; hold a little burning
Candle at e p ties nose whose mouth is open: Or else set
some little Cup or glass full of water to e brim upon e s
p ties bely or Navell: for by e moving of e flame of e
Candle , or of e vessell w th water, y w shall be p ceive his secret
breathing if any there be. Tis good not to bury too hastily
such as dy of e Apoplexy, falling sicknes, or e Mother.
{1}For e French-pox, a marvellous water, t may be soon p
-pared more p cious than gold. Put fair & clear water into
a vessell w in there was never before any liquor, or before
never used, & w e water is very hot, pour it to quick Lime,
being before in another new & clean vessell, & let it re
-main so long until e have taken all e foull spume that
floats above from e same, & t all e Lime be setled to e
bottom, & e water very clear, then pour out e water very
softlt w out moving e Lime to e bottome, & keep e same
water in a fair clean Glass or Some other clean vessell well
