& distill a water thereof according to art, 2 or 3 times over:
This water is a most precious thing against all Melancholy sick
-nesses, & in thye pain & trembling of thye heart: The quantity
to be given at / one time is a dram, which is thye weight of 72
barley Corns.

{1}Mugwort steeped in Rose-water, help trembling or shaking
hands, if they wash therewith in thye morning before they
wash in any thing else.

{1}To know if a person be perfectly dead; hold a little burning
Candle at thye parties nose whose mouth is open: Or else set
some little Cup or glass full of water to thye brim upon thye said
parties bely or Navell: for by thye moving of thye flame of thye
Candle , or of thye vessell with water, yew shall be perceive his secret
breathing if any there be. Tis good not to bury too hastily
such as dy of thye Apoplexy, falling sicknes, or thye Mother.

{1}For thye French-pox, a marvellous water, thayt may be soon pre
-pared more precious than gold. Put fair & clear water into
a vessell wherein there was never before any liquor, or before
never used, & when thye water is very hot, pour it to quick Lime,
being before in another new & clean vessell, & let it re
-main so long until thye have taken all thye foull spume that
floats above from thye same, & thayt all thye Lime be setled to thye
bottom, & thye water very clear, then pour out thye water very
softlt without moving thye Lime to thye bottome, & keep thye same
water in a fair clean Glass or Some other clean vessell well
